Building Plugins for Panopoly and OpenAtrium? A Pipedream?

I'm a big fan of Panopoly and, in the past, I've been a big fan, user and builder with OA1. Just watched this lovely developer demo video here on OA2: https://vimeo.com/64411430 and installed alpha2 version. Really love it and so excited to be working on OpenAtrium again in Drupal 7.

Anyways, I've got several modules and features expanding and building on Panopoly as the base system, but I'm wondering IF and possibly HOW we can build stuff that would work for BOTH basic Panopoly (i.e. no OG) and also work with panopoly and OG-power Panopoly? Is this a pipedream or is there some potential way to not have to build twice?

Might it be possible to build a basic panopoly feature and then add a small helper feature export with the og / openatrium7 stuff like fields, etc. to provide integration into OpenAtrium?

I definitely think you can do exactly as you described

If you're already integrating with Panopoly, you have all the Panels stuff in place. There's just the space and section reference field that needs to go on the content types (features[field_instance][] = XXX), maybe a section layout default and some integration with the activity messages.

So, integrating well with OA2.0 is actually a bit more work than it seems, but I personally see no problems with this two layered approach!

Cool. Thanks for the

Cool. Thanks for the feedback, David. It will be interesting how much of Panopoly stuff can be brought to play in OpenAtrium2. I'll see how it goes and try and report back to this thread. I think quite a few folks would benefit from establishing some advice / guidelines for building more capable of being compatible modules.
