Has anyone had any luck getting Quickstart to install on a physical machine? I'd like to be able to use all the scripts/tools that are provided, on my physical machine, but keep encountering errors.

Could you post your errors?
Could you post your errors? Just for troubleshooting. Make sure you are downloading the .ova file with either chrome or firefox. IE screws up the download. Also use file > import when installing (not file>new).
I would also recommend drupalpro. The maintainer of quickstart is now working for Acquia (congrats!) and is not able to maintain quickstart at this time. https://drupal.org/project/drupalpro
Please come to irc #drupal-florida and #drupalpro if you need additional help with installation.

The only time I have a problem is when I'm trying to run the various install scripts from http://git.drupal.org/project/quickstart.git to set up a local environment. I'm not trying to use the OVA. I mainly want to the additional commands for Drush working in my dev environment.
Congrats to Michael as well!

Drush commands not working on Virtualbox
Hi,
Looks like my troubles are the same. Here is the error I get when attempting to run this drush command:
quickstart-install --domain=mysite.dev
(long wait)

I couldn't even get it installed properly. lol. I was trying DrupalPro the other day and got a bit further into the install than I did with QuickStart.

Thanks for the email, nilashis
I'll try what you suggest... the documented drush qc, plus the makefile command. The makefile command is what was missing from the Readme.txt I'll let everybody know if I succeed, and what I did differently to get there.
Same error

What directory, etc.?
Is there a particular directory I need to be in when running that command? Should the make file be in that directory? Is there something particular about drush aliases that needs to be in place? I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'd really like this to work.

In quickstart2. cd into the /websites folder. Run the command:
drush qsc examplesite.dev
As stated before, quickstart is no longer supported at this time. It is recommended to use drupalpro. https://drupal.org/project/drupalpro
