Hi,
I have a client that needs their Drupal 7 site %100 AA accessible by January 1st, 2020. Although I am a Drupal developer, I have been working primarily with Wordpress the last couple years and I am far from an expert in accessibility. Is there anyone in this group available to help out? Or, can anyone recommend someone?
Thanks in advance
J.P. Hayes

Providing an explicit "This image is decorative and provides no information not already in the text" checkbox to blank out alt text
It's essentially undocumented on the web and in Drupal that a content editor who uploads an image can make a required alt text produce an empty alt tag with ""
in the alt text field.
I think it would be a much better editor experience to have a checkbox: "This image is decorative and provides no information not already present in text."
This would then produce the empty alt tag for them.
It would also help people learn about the purpose of alt text (and maybe make us think more about using images that do provide some value).

The time of plain web pages and dial-up internet is gone forever. We live in a world where our devices are able to simultaneously operate with tons of data. Tweets, notifications, alert messages, progress bars — all these components appear on the web page asynchronously, which makes the user experience more convenient than ever.

Our friend Mike Gifford from Open Concept is in the San Francisco Bay Area and has invited us all to an open discussion about accessibility in our open source projects. Mike is a distinguished member of the Drupal Core accessibility team.
We'll look beyond merely meeting WCAG 2.1 standards for our projects and see where Open Source and accessibility can co-exist.
Possible discussion points:
* Understanding compliance: A, AA, and AAA.
* What's new in WCAG 2.1?
* How to get buy-in from stakeholders BEFORE the build?
* Creating awareness beyond code
