Producing and attending a live Drupal Dojo session

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.
You are viewing a wiki page. You are welcome to join the group and then edit it. Be bold!

Here's a wiki page for writing up "how to" participate in the various roles we outlined this evening at the BoF session. It's a wiki so EDIT ME, PLEASE! I also enabled comments though if you're into that kind of thing.

(Note: this is just an outline, but hopefully is a start.)

Presenters

When presenting a Dojo lesson, you need the following:

  • Mic (Required): Presenters talk on as they're presenting the information.
  • Registered account on Twitch.tv (Required): Twitch is a live streaming service with a few seconds delay.
  • Screen capture software (Required): I recommand using OBS studio because it is available for all platforms. For more information see our guide on settings up.Guide here
  • Webcam (Optional): If you have one and our comfortable you can setup a section to display your webcam as you talk through the session.

Attendees

  • Twitch.Tv account (Optional): In order to comment while the stream is active you will require a registered Twitch.tv account if you do not have one you can still watch the stream but will be unable to use the comment sidebar.

Host

The host's job is to introduce the presenter, as well as field questions from IRC at designated intervals. During the lesson, the host will monitor the sidebar chat and

  • attempt to answer any questions directly
  • ask the presenter the questions
  • Presenter(s) and Host should discuss the best way for them to communicate during the session and arrange voice chat between them. I would personally recommend using slack chat or google hangouts.

This will (hopefully) allow the presenter to keep the lesson moving while answering as many relevant questions as possible.

Make sure you touch base with the presenter before the class begins and find out the information they would like to be used for introduction (name - real and/or handle, company, experience with Drupal, etc.)
