BDUG will be meeting on 1/27 from 12 - 1:30 in its NEW LOCATION, Dwinelle 3401.

Quinn Dombrowski will be discussing data modeling and content types in Drupal. Drupal site developers often face the temptation of adding a new content type whenever their site has to publish a new kind of content. However, the proliferation of poorly-differentiated content types leads to a site that can be confusing for content maintainers, and can limit your ability to manage and manipulate your data using modules like Views. How many content types do you really need? What circumstances merit the creation of a new content type, and when should you use or modify an existing content type? What are the benefits of splitting up your data across multiple content types and fields, versus grouping it together? Examples for this presentation will primarily be drawn from Drupal sites for scholarly projects, but the topic is relevant for administrative sites as well.

Hello -

Just a quick note that the location of this Monday's BDUG has changed to 370 Dwinelle, instead of 3401 as originally announced.

Hope to see you there!
