Drupal.org improvements

One of the noticeable events of the past few weeks was, of course, the Heartbleed security incident, so the team was busy responding to it.

Apart from that we also got a few things fixed:

Drupal.org infrastructure

On the infrastructure side we made some progress on managing Drupal configuration permissions in Puppet. www2 got rebuild without Cfengine. We've bought and installed new backend network switch.

Most importantly we started CDN (Content Delivery Network) rollout for some *.drupal.org sites. This is an important project, which should greatly improve website's performance. We start with the smaller ones, but will switch all our sites to CDN at some point.

Other news

The work is progressing on Drupal Job board. Initial wireframe review is underway and looking good.

We’ve got a number of great responses to our Drupal.org User Research RFQ. Our staff and the Drupal.org Content Working Group reviewed them all and had a few interviews with the potential vendors. We are getting ready to make a final decision and announce the winner.

2 weeks ago we had Drupal.org issue queues clean up sprint. More than 10 people took part in the sprint. We've managed to close about 300 issues and get open issue count down significantly on a number of queues. Thanks to all volunteers who helped!
