Join Alozie Nwosu (@theaphro) & Bill Bordac (@bordac) as they discuss how 3 years ago Brown University's WebServices group launched a Drupal-based Department Website Template system called BrownSites. 3 years later and with 250 sites in production, they are reviewing lessons learned as they move forward with the development of the 2nd generation platform and service.  In this presentation they'll explore:

  • evolution of BrownSites from pilot to product to service
  • assumptions and expectations vs. reality of department use cases and user needs
  • solutions beyond technology - organizational problem-solving
  • modular feature-driven development
  • system deployment automation
  • platform performance, maintenance, and growth

Doors open at 6 pm; we ask that you try to arrive by 6:30 pm for networking. The program starts promptly at 7 pm. The program includes introductions, some quick presentations, and a chance to pick the brains of your fellow attendees.
