IDAHOT - International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia is celebrated on May17 to commemorate the World Health Organization’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder. IDAHOT is not one centralised campaign; rather it is a moment that everyone can take advantage of to take action (this year in over 120 countries). Coordination and support on global scale is done via Committee and small team as part time executives (activists from different continents). http://dayagainsthomophobia.org/may-17/

Next year it will be 10th time that May17 will be celebrated and for this reason and upcoming re-branding it will likely revamp its web presence. Now it is running on a quite problematic WordPress, that should many weaknesses under a pressure (especially on May16). I would love to support their transition to Drupal (to some Cloud hosting that could sustain annual peak pressure in popularity) as well as establishing sub-sites and sub-domains for specific projects and services to trans-local communities (Multisite? DrupalCommons?? OpenAtrium???)... There are however few things I am concerned with when suggesting the switch that come to my mind (advanced user & experienced admin but not Drupal Dev) - so I share this - knowing that people in this community would have more to add, so I publish this in hope of your input to support this worthy cause.

    ISSUES to consider:
  • # Switch to a new domain will make loss of Google ratings...
(a way to have old and new URL still active at the same site)
  • # Transition from WP to Drupal would not be literal and direct...
(would require developer who is inform of both to translate&reuse existing)
  • # Drupal has a different internal interface especially for editors
(would require similar UI for article authoring and management)
  • # Drupal 8 and modules are not ready for use still but D7 is too old
(would require a good estimate when to start the process with D8)

Please add any other ISSUES and/or how to deal with them?
