People visiting our city to attend DrupalCon Los Angeles (May 11-15, 2015) will need to know how to get around L.A., and what there is to do outside of the conference. There will be social events each night of the conference, but not every drinks or dances or will only be enjoying our city at night so some daytime activities and family friendly points of interest should be compiled in this wiki.

DO YOUR PART BY ADDING INFORMATION FOR OUR GUESTS/TOURISTS

What is needed for the list?
Travel info. How to get around Los Angeles easily, specifically Metro options. We don't need to add Uber or Lyft info here.

The critical info we need added is how people will get from the official hotel (Westin Bonaventure) to the conference venue (Los Angeles Convention Center). It should be assumed there's an official shuttle at the hotel but with 5,000 people attending the same event that week we should help folks who choose to bus or walk.

How would you get to the conference from the official hotel?

It's a 1 mile, 20 minute walk from the hotel to the venue, but otherwise the bus is good. The most affordable is the LA Metro's Dash bus, Route F, which is 50 cents and runs every 10 minutes from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday (every 20 minutes between 5:50 and 6:30 PM). Board the bus at 4th St and Figueroa, heading toward Exposition Park/USC. The stop is Figueroa and Pico Blvd, right outside the LA Convention Center.

If the Dash bus isn't running, you can take the Silver Line (also known as the 910 bus) for $2.50. It runs throughout the day and into the night (timetable PDF). Board the southbound bus in the direction of Harbor Gateway (not the northbound in the direction of El Monte) at 5th and Flower, one block south and one block south and east of the hotel. Get off the bus at Flower and Pico Blvd, then walk one block northwest to the convention center.
