Event type:
User group meeting

For our March meeting, we have a double feature ...

Our main talk is our postponed session from February on Drupal OOP.

Drupal is moving more and more towards Object Oriented Programming (OOP) with every new release. It was first implemented in DBTNG, The Next Generation for the Database access layer which went into Drupal 7. Now with Drupal 8, right around the corner, more and more of Drupal is OOP.

Using OOP in your modules will help with minimizing code changes from Drupal 7.x to Drupal 8.x

Nik Alexandrov (nafes) will be continuing his talk about Object Oriented Programming for Drupal.

He will continue to cover the following, started in part 1 of this session:

  • OOP principles.
  • Inheritance examples.
  • Namespace examples.
  • PSR-4 style.
  • Drupal 8 OOP directory structure.

As well, he will also cover these new topics:

  • Class/Interface as a parameter.
  • Classes and Interfaces inheritance features.
  • Interface inheritance example.

If you missed part 1, Nik will cover briefly what went into it, so please do come over regardless.

Last, but not least, we have Chris Luckhardt coming to tell us all about Drupal North which is happening this coming June in Toronto.
