Event type:
Sprint

We are proud to announce NHDevDays 2, the second in our series of contribution sprints to be held throughout New Hampshire in 2015.

NHDevDays

In lieu of a DrupalCamp, the NH Drupal group organizers have decided to run a series of code sprints throughout 2015. Each code sprint will be dedicated to both helping newcomers learn the steps involved in contributing to one of today’s largest open source projects, and a venue for existing contributors to help others and collaborate in person.

NHDevDays 2 - Portsmouth

The second NHDevDays sprint will be in Portsmouth, June 5th - June 7th. Exact times will be announced soon, but the rough schedule is that there will be pre-sprint prep on Friday afternoon, a full-day sprint on Saturday, and a 1/2 day sprint Sunday morning.

The focus of this sprint will be Twig and the new theme layer in Drupal 8. Even with this focus, members of the community of all levels of experience are welcome to attend. We will have a variety of topics to work on, including documentation and testing patches. Hopefully by the end of the sprint we will have resolved these two critical issues plus a few more!

Code of Conduct

In order to keep everything running smoothly, and both help avoid and resolve any conflicts that arise, the event will be using the standard Drupalcon Code of Conduct. Several of the organizers will be available to aid in resolving any issues that may arise.

Location

Bowst, which also hosts the Seacoast Drupal User Group, is a web development company located at 650 Islington Street in Portsmouth. Bowst has ample, free parking and is conveniently located in Portsmouth's West End neighborhood.

Refreshments & Food

We will have beverages, including coffee (regular and decaf), water, soda, and light snacks available in the morning and throughout the day on each day of the sprint. Lunch on Saturday will be the only meal provided for free. We are still working out details, but we will be making options available for people with specific dietary needs.

Dinner

We will visit a restaurant in Portsmouth for dinner on Friday and Saturday. Attendees will be responsible for the cost of their dinner.

Free stuff!

While we won’t have a t-shirt this time around, we may have a small amount of swag to give away.

D8 Accelerate Grant

peezy's picture

Good news... the Drupal Association has awarded us a D8 Accelerate Grant! The funds are specifically going to be used to bring two of the Drupal 8 theme system co-maintainers, joelpittet and Cottser to the sprint. This will help us accomplish our primary goal, which is to resolve the two remaining Twig-related D8 critical issues.

Thank you, DA for supporting our sprint!

NHDevDays 2 by the numbers

peezy's picture

Thank you to everyone who attended and assisted with the NHDevDays 2 contribution sprint this past weekend! I will write a more detailed report later this week, but I thought that it would be nice to share some numbers with everyone this morning.

  • Attendees:
    • We had 17 in-person attendees from the US and Canada.
    • Our attendees represented 7 different states/provinces.
    • @joelpittet travelled the farthest distance to attend (3,229 miles).
    • @kfriend travelled the least distance to attend (.6 miles).
  • Critical Issue 2273925
    • In-person sprinters @lokapujya, @joelpittet, and @Cottser worked on this critical issue and now it is now in Drupal 8! They built on work that was done previously (the issue is over a year old and has 300+ comments). I also want to thank @xjm, @lauriii, @effulgentsia, @larowlan, and @dawehner for helping to wrap-up this issue over the weekend.
  • Critical Issue 2280965
    • This meta issue still active, but we were able to make substantial progress on its 51 children issues.
    • As of 9:00 AM this morning, 19 of those are fixed, 1 has been reviewed and tested, 9 need review, 11 need work, 3 have been postponed, and 8 are active.
    • Thank you @joelpittet, @Cottser, @kbaringer, @leslieg, @cwells, @daniel_rose, @cdulude, @lokapujya, @dtrafton, @jbradley428, @tetranz, @kfriend, @sclapp, @kay_v, and @mlncn for your work on this meta issue.

Thanks again!

Forgetting anyone?
