Opposites Attract

For November, we have something for the absolute beginner and for the experienced Drupal developer.

Getting started? Exploring?

We have been asked to do a beginners tutorial on getting going with Drupal. If you're new to Drupal over the past 6 months to 1 year, this will be the session for you.

Actually, if you have never touched Drupal before and you're trying to figure out if you have an application for it, this will be a great session for you, too.

Intro to Drupal. Winn Jewett of Oxbox Labs will get you started with Drupal:

  1. Getting started - Four hosted options to get up and running in a few minutes.
  2. Essential modules - Stock Drupal is bare-bones. These essential modules are used on every site, regardless of size.
  3. Content types - Defining custom content types is a breeze with Drupal.
  4. Views - Create lists of things with Views. Examples include upcoming events, recent news, board members, etc.

For those with Drupal experience...

Administration themes. Tired of the boring administration theme bundled with core? What to work on your site from your mobile device? Caleb Thorne of Monarch Digital will review and demonstrate a number of alternative Drupal administration themes to streamline your admin process.

D8 curious? If you've been using Drupal, Drupal 8 is bringing new features you can use out of the box. Rick Nashleanas of Monarch will demo a number of new D8 features that you have needed.

Update on the D8 topic: Monarch is actively converting its primary site to Drupal 8. We'll report on works well, what's missing, what's different, etc.

Location: We are in conference room B2 at the 21C Library... Nice facilities... Great internet... Nice presentation equipment...
