Training (free or commercial)

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to give you the heads-up on a workshop we will be holding in Waltham, MA on April 14th.

This course covers popular methods of working with code in a team environment using the popular Git version control system that is used throughout the Drupal community. During this course, you will learn not only how to move code from one environment to another, but also how to pass code back and forth from one developer to another to ensure that the entire team is involved in the process. We’ll also step heavily into working with popular platforms such as GitHub, Acquia Cloud, the issue queues on Drupal.org, and even touch on Behat for continuous integration. The principles that you learn during the course likely will serve you for years to come, and will be beneficial for many coding-related projects that you work on, even if they are not specifically related to the Drupal project.

Target Audience
The course is written with introductory-level to mid-level experienced developers in mind. Students should be comfortable with using command-line tools at a basic level and should be comfortable with coding websites. Some experience working with and coding for Drupal is expected. Students should already have a local web environment up and running on their machines with either Drupal 7 or Drupal 8 installed.

Prerequisites:
This course isn’t for newbies. This is for developers who know their stuff, and are ready to start working with a team of other strong developers immediately. Maybe you haven’t used Git before, but you’ve worked with another version control system. Maybe you’ve been developing in the wild for years, but just aren’t familiar with the conventions followed in the Drupal community. Well, you’re in for a treat. Sit tight and we’ll give you all of the details on how to get comfortable working with your Drupal compadres using tried-and-true methods that we can all agree on.

By the end of the training you will be able to:
-Use Git to work with both local and remote repositories
-Discuss popular Git workflow methods
-Develop code in cooperation with teams and stakeholders
-Create pull requests in a team project context via GitHub.com
-Push code to a live Acquia Cloud site
-Participate in the issue queues on Drupal.org to submit patches to code
-Utilize continuous integration practices

If you have any questions please feel free to email, acollins@isovera.com.

Thank you!!
