Drupal 8 Migrate in Core weekly meeting

• 3 issues committed since last week: D6/7->D8 migration: User role based block visibility settings doesn't filter missing roles (Migrate critical), Invalid passwords after D7 to D8 migration (Migrate critical), and Cckfield Plugins must distinguish core versions. Several more are close to done.

- Decided to demote Add back incremental migrations through the UI from a Migrate Critical; this is now a UI enhancement and thus can go in any time. Pinged Abhishek to take a look.

• Some skepticism expressed at whether or not we need Destination bundle set in destination plugin, not in process, benjy to review more.

• General +1 to the 'provider' key proposed in Source plugins have a hidden dependency on migrate_drupal.

• Mike to review D6->D8: Migrating links without leading slash leads to fatal error this week.

Needs work

• Directive from alexpott in Migrate D6 i18n nodes is to break it up into smaller bits. Vasi is working on that now.

• Taxonomy term hierarchy migration incomplete is a recent regression. Mike going to take a look.

• Migrate sources and destinations need a way to get their requirements - this one is a bit gnarly and needs some brainstorming time put into it. Benjy to try and dig up IRC logs from alexpott. Try to set up a meeting with Benjy/Mike/Alex to brainstorm on this. It's either going to be hacky or a huge patch. One of the most critical.

• Better handle replacement of missing filters with filter_null - We map things like PHP Filter to filter_null. Instead of reporting its plugin ID, we want to report the filter ID that triggered it.

• Various problems with highwater field support - This feature doesn't work at all atm; escalated to Migrate critical. Needs re-roll. Quietone offered to re-roll.

• Check existing (uninstalled) modules on a site for conflicting content type machine names prior to migrating - If you had Forum on D7, migrate to D8 without Forum being enabled, then later enable the Forum module, it craps out. Recommend making it a Forum/Book module issue vs. Migrate. RTBCed for now to get it on committers' radar.

• Handle import of private files blocked on #2695297: Refactor EntityFile and use process plugins instead.

• File migration slows down and eats more and more memory needs a bit more info from reporter. Will ask davidwbarret some more questions and set back to "needs more info."

Also in need: people to help review issues, esp. Non-migrate critical by new contributors. This is important to help motivate people to submit further patches.
