User group meeting

This month's Portland Drupal User Group is this Wednesday, July 12 from 6pm to 8:30pm at ThinkShout (433 NW 4th Ave. Ste 100).

Free pizza and beverages hosted by Metal Toad. Come at 6pm for food and socializing. Get to know your local Drupal community in a casual welcoming environment. At the end of the event, we'll be raffling a free copy of PHPStorm.

Greg Dunlap (heyrocker), who was the initiative lead for configuration management for Drupal 8, will be presenting about configuration management and the technical foundation behind how it works.

The presentation will start at 6:30pm. We'll do some introductions and announcements and then kick off the presentation. After the presentation rather than trying to fit in a second speaker, we'll kick off a group discussion of configuration management in practice. So, if you've got some experience making Drupal 8 work in production, come and share your tips and experience with the group.

See you Wednesday!
~Greg

Change of venue

Hi folks,

The Metal Toad events coordinator is on vacation and can't arrange hosting for Wednesday. So, I'm moving the meet up back to ThinkShout for July and we'll head to Metal Toad in again in the future when I can give them an earlier reminder. I'm sure Phase II or Acquia would be happy to trade days with Metal Toad as well, it's just easier for me on short notice.

I'm updating the event here and on meetup.com. Sorry for the last minute change of venue.

Can anyone record the talk at this meetup? I would like to attend but I am out of town and unable to attend.

Yup! A live stream might be too new-fangled for our first recorded meet up, but a screen recording with audio should be super doable.

That would be awesome. If we

That would be awesome. If we don't have one then we should consider a PDXDUG youtube account for these things.

Hey Frank (and other folks

Hey Frank (and other folks who asked) we had a miscue with the recording. So, unfortunately, we don't have a recording to share. But, the discussion made it pretty clear that a talk specifically on configuration workflow options would be super useful.

A few of the modules that were mentioned in the discussion last night were:

https://www.drupal.org/project/config_split
https://www.drupal.org/project/config_installer
https://www.drupal.org/project/config_filter
https://www.drupal.org/project/config_rewrite

And the three events I mentioned were:

Dev Ops Days on August 1st:

Devsigner Session submissions close on July 31:
https://www.devsignercon.com/

Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit which is still in the early planning stages.
