Why Utrecht?
Because Utrecht is one of the happiest places to be! The city embodies, ‘gezelligheid’, the core of Dutch culture. With its medieval centre, gabled merchants’ houses and cosmopolitan student population, Utrecht offers a laid-back alternative to Amsterdam. Unlike any other inner-canal city in the world, Utrecht has wharfs. The wharfs lead on to traditional cellars that have mostly been adapted to serve as bars and restaurants, which create wonderful café-lined canals. Utrecht is a slice of bohemia: a haven for everyone and anyone. No wonder Utrecht is nominated for European City of the Year Award 2018!
