Congratulations to the Drupal community for being accepted to participate in Google Summer of Code 2018. Information to get started for students and mentors below.

Students - Read required documentation: Drupal's getting started guide for students @ https://www.drupal.org/node/2415225 - This will allow any student to get started on their own prior to proposal application. Join Drupal's GSoC group @ https://groups.drupal.org/google-summer-code and find potential projects ideas in our project idea list @ https://groups.drupal.org/node/518074. Chat with us in real-time by joining our IRC channel #drupal-google @Freenode ("don't ask to ask, just ask"). All students are required to complete Drupal Ladder for GSoC students @ http://drupalladder.org/ladder/47217ef7-9bf5-4c7f-926f-aeee247aac78 which is a step-by-step guide designed to give students an introduction to Drupal. All applications must follow Drupal's application template @ https://groups.drupal.org/node/411293. Example of previously accepted applications @ https://groups.drupal.org/node/459223.

Mentors - add project ideas @ https://groups.drupal.org/node/518074 -- even if you're unavailable to mentor, feel free to add a project idea. If you want to mentor, but don't have a project idea, contact Slurpee with your experience and intent of mentoring. Our goal is to add as many mentors to each project as possible, so yes, we need all the help from mentors as we can find.

Feel free to comment this post with questions or contact Slurpee directly if you have any questions related to GSoC 2018.

Interested university students can now apply to be a part of Google Summer of Code 2018.

Visit the program site, g.co/gsoc, to register and start submitting your proposals for your summer projects to the organizations that interest you.

Be sure to read the Ideas List for each of the 212 organizations and reach out to the organization early to get feedback on your proposal so that you have the opportunity to edit it before the final deadline.

For tips on writing an excellent proposal read the short Student Guide written by Mentors, Org Administrators and former students.

Applications close Tuesday, March 27 at 16:00 UTC. All final proposals must be submitted before the deadline to be considered by the mentor organizations.
Good luck!
