The Drupal Meet-up is excited to announce the launch of our site, http://drupalqld.org. Through it we are now officially taking registrations for DrupalCamp QLD 2010 so if you're interested in coming, please sign up now to make sure you reserve yourself a spot.
To allay any potential controversy with anyone in the wider Drupal community who might be concerned that we are launching a site like this, here's our rationale in a nutshell:

we will still use gdo for announcements and discussion, but this site will provide us with a presence on the web which we can promote locally more easily.

It also will allow us to collect email addresses of interested people and email them regularly -- a much more proactive contact arrangement for us than simply posting here on gdo

it will provide a place for us to easily archive presentation materials, photos of events etc
Lots of people from the QLD meet-up have had an input into the site, so thanks to you all for your hard work!

Congrats - Looks Great!
Well done drupalqld - looks brilliant - I think it's a really good idea to have local sites like this. GDO is by the community for the community, but it's not the most accessible place for reaching people not yet IN the community.
If we're going to grow our community, I think that's the way to go :)
