Join the Gainesville Drupal Users Group Thursday, October 11th at 7pm at the Alachua Downtown Library (Click for Map.)
For the October meetup, the Gainesville Drupal Users Group have two main presentations:
1. Speeding up Drupal development with Drush
Mediacurrent's own Kevin Basarab will walk us through using Drush - the Drupal shell. Drush is the swiss army knife of Drupal Development. It can do almost anything you need but many new users of Drupal don't understand why or how it can help speed the development process. In this session we'll skip installation of Drush but we'll go into the basic commands of Drush to help you download Drupal, install, download and install contrib modules plus use aliases to sync between a local and development environment.
2. Secrets to Awesomizing® Your Editor’s Back-end Drupal Experience
In this session we’ll walk the intermediate site-builder through modules and techniques to dramatically simplify, declutter content management and creation within Drupal 7. Modules reviewed and demonstrated about include Field_Group, VBO, Rules, Dashboard, Workbench, the Spark Distribution, and more!
In addition, we'll have
- A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
- A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites
- Roundtable discussion - What have you done or learned in the last month that's worth showing off?
- A happy-hour / social event afterwards - probably at Harry's or The Top (both are within walking distance)! This'll give us a chance to nerd-talk over a beer or three :)
Details:
- When: Thurs October 11th, 2012 7pm-9pm EDT
- Where: the Alachua County Downtown Libary (401 East University Ave) Click for Map.
- Room: We'll be in the Foundation Room, which is up the stairs and to the left (follow the wall until you see the sign. Ask for help if needed).
- Afterwards: We'll be going out for food/beer/socializing at a restaurant/bar within walking distance.
- What to bring: Bring your laptop if you have one, if not, don't worry!

Mediacurrent is currently coordinating bus transportation from Orlando to Atlanta for Drupalcamp Atlanta on October 25. Projected cost for this ride to be as low as $70 if we can fill the bus and includes wifi. There's more information in the attachment; the key date at this point is September 28. We'd like to have a gauge of interest (and likely a deposit) by that date so we know what size bus to get.
Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on the bus!
