savannahnow.com relaunches (finally) on Drupal 7
One of the first newspaper-based sites based on Drupal, savannahnow.com has relaunched on Drupal 7 with a responsive design and tight integration with newsroom workflow and subscriber management systems.
This project features an unusually high degree of integration with third-party systems:

We've relaunched our business news website, http://businessinsavannah.com/, on D7 with a Bootstrap-based theme built by Chris A. White. This is 100% off-the-shelf modules and the custom theme is derived from the https://www.drupal.org/project/bootstrap base theme. We kept coding to an absolute minimum. The CSS is all class-based -- what a relief!
We'll be using this framework for another site that will launch in a week or so.

What:
We are working on a few publishing projects by now and there seems no final good option out there to quickly get the site up and running. We are investigating what's best solution to build robust premium Magazine/News themes (by this I actually mean a complete Drupal website profile).
Goal:
We want to develop at least 5 different Drupal News and Magazine themes and offer them as basic off-the-shelf package and add customizations on top per bespoke business requirements.
Designs:

I'm working with a small radio station that currently has a daily e-news paper and adds news to their website manually using Dreamweaver.
We are considering Drupal CMS, and believe this module seems to have what we need to create the site we are looking for:
http://theopensourcenewspaper.org
We are looking for any recommendations for a developer that has experience with the module and would be able to help us transition the site over to Drupal.
Thank you for any help / guidance in this matter.

Traditionally the Savannah Morning News has published a print gift guide every holiday season. This project aims to recraft the concept as a Web-centric local shopping information service. The aim is to get people into local stores, not provide e-commerce, so there's no e-commerce back end.

The Economist - Which Modules are used to build it and how are managed blogs and channels?
Hi,
I would like to know what modules are used in The Economist Drupal 6 websites: http://www.economist.com
Also I would like to understand how are managed the Channels and Blogs Structures.
And also How are managed the subscribed content?
I think we could learn a lot from The Economist website. It is a great project.
Can you help me?
Read moreSeeking OpenPublish themes or re-sizing advice. Default theme is too big.
Anyone else have this problem? The default OpenPublish theme is too big. Very little content is visible above the fold.
Only 1 headline and 1 blog entry are visible when the page loads. My audience needs to see the latest news immediately rather than having to scroll as soon as they land on the page. And I need more than just the header ad zone visible.
So I want to ask:
- Does anyone have other themes for OpenPublish, or any Drupal themes for news sites? Do you know where I might find one?
Alternatively:
- Is there a way to reduce the height of the elements in the top part of default theme display without having to develop a whole new theme?
Thanks.

Decided earlier this month to head to Cleveland, Ohio to start up Cleveland Free Press ... Nothing too special - yet - but it shows how easy Drupal is to get what one user has called "an official looking" site.
Comments/criticism welcome. Still a lot to do - still in the "soft launch" stage.
Thanks - and Happy New Year.
Read moreHELP: Hiding fields (in my case, images) that are empty when using CCK
I'm making an article/story content type with CCK and I have it looking the way I want it to but a dilemma has arisen: how do you hide fields that are styled with CSS when no data is entered. In my specific situation, an article contains all the fields needed (headline, byline, text) but no image is imputed.
I have images styled so that they float to the left and the text will wrap around (similar to the way it would in usatoday.com). But if no image is uploaded, the styling is still visible and leaves an awkward space where it would have been. See the screen shots below.
