Drupalversity

I've discussed this idea to some extent on the dev and docs mailing lists, it was suggested that I also post here. In brief:

I think it would be great if we (the broad Drupal community) could put together a series of online courses which teach people different aspects of Drupal.

DrupalMedia.org Launched for the Sprint!

As a supplement to the Media group, I launched Drupal Media today to help with the ongoing Media sprint efforts. On its front page, you'll see a map to the next sprint (which is at Mansueto - 7 World Trade Ctr, New York, NY this Friday-Saturday, October 23-24, from 9-5). Tabs are also available for discussions (add your own), videos, and a feed to the Media module issue queue. Please give me any feedback or desired functionality that would be useful for the site. (Including long-term plans for the useful domain, contributed by the good folks at Development Seed.)

Drupal Media

Don't forget that you have to pre-register if you plan to come to the sprint, with your full name. Hope to see you there, or at #drupal-media in IRC!

Camp/Conference formula for Drupal

With over 500 camp attendees and 60+ session proposals, us organizers of Drupal Camp LA needed a Drupal site that was built for organizers and attendees, with lessons learned from 3+ DrupalCons & 2+ DrupalCamps. Here is our formula for our awesome camp site.

"DrupalCampLA.com was built on Drupal 6 using core & contributed modules to handle event registration, sponsorship management, featured speakers, user bio's, and session proposals. The website features an attendee driven event schedule where members propose sessions and only registered members pick which sessions they'd like to see (in the BarCamp style). Planning the schedule for the day of events has been made flexible enough to allow organizers to maintain a master schedule with ease. Not to mention that all attendees get their own schedule view with the sessions they pick."

"The web site was based on the latest Drupal 6.x release and utilized many of the current generation modules such as CCK for content customization, imagefield and imagecache to handle imaging Views & custom theming built on Zen for content presentation." (A full list of the modules used is in the case study - http://drupal.org/node/519100 )

The download link is available in the case study post - http://drupal.org/node/519100 and has been made available by LA Drupal & This By Them.

Drupal resource repository that does double as an online Drupal course

There is a lot of teaching content out there, but there is no central place that can get you to all of it.

Yesterday we had a discussion about the future of resources aggregation and moderation for Drupal (e.g. videocasts, recordings, audio, write-ups,...). I've got a part (the first 30 minutes are missing) transcript of the IRC session at http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgtrwwgw_1dtmqc5c2

There were basically 3 use cases:
1) Drupal Dojo where people come to teach and learn - sort of social network for learning and mentoring
2) A Drupal materials aggregator - that collects everything and that is community moderated
3) A moderated content list - where a list of comprehensive materials is made available

Drupal Dojo wallpaper

Hello everyone,

In my pastime, sometimes I jump into inkscape, and this time I decided to do something for the Dojo.

Since it has helped me so much in the past and the group is working hard to get it back in full force, (mind you, joshk already did an awesome lesson in November), I decided to do something hoping to inspire this process, and well, hopefully be of some use also in promoting the group.

If you are using another resolution, do drop a comment, and I will provide it, no problem =)

If anyone has suggestions, (I didn't include the url, because I like my wallpapers clean, for example), go ahead and fire away, we could make a different version, no problem =)

Hope you like it!
