Scrapbook page

I have a question about how to get started on a project.

I'm going to add some functionality which allows someone to post a certain kind of content. This is just a scrapbook of a home improvement project. This would be for any registered user to use. They could put up one to five photos, a title, and a small summary. Then other users would be able to comment on the project. There would be a list page of projects with titles and the first photo and part of the description. A page to read the entry, view the photos, and comment, and a page to post a new entry.

This would be my first actual Drupal project besides what's usually installed, so I'm wondering if you could suggest where I'd start.
