Please join us for the Inland Empire's inaugural/organizational meeting.
We will be meeting at Mi Mi's Cafe in Corona on Thursday the 18th of November, at 7:00pm.
Future meeting locations will be dependent upon who is interested in attending, and finding a central location that works well for all.
Mi Mi's Cafe is located at:
2230 GRIFFIN WAY
CORONA, CA 92883
After spending a little time getting to know one another, we would like to address frequency of meetings, potential locations, and possible agenda items for upcoming meetups.
A few of the LA Drupal members have pledged their support to foster and guide this group through best practices for a Drupal group to help shorten our bootstrap time.
Please join us. We want to launch this group into a regular schedule by the first of next year.
Thanks!

Fantastic!
I enjoy following news and working through material on my own, but getting together once in a while is key. Very happy to meet with real live people.
Mimi's Cafe should be a good starting place.
Thanks, Steve, for getting the ball rolling!

Sorry!
As I noted elsewhere, third Thursdays are bad for me, as I have a previous commitment. Wednesdays and Sundays are likewise bad, so if you can see your way clear to schedule future meetings around that I'll be there.
I will make sure we take that
I will make sure we take that into consideration mrtoner. Can you also tell me you approx location? That will help when we discuss potential regular meet up locations.

San Berdoo
I'm in San Bernardino, so Corona is a little far, but doable. Riverside, Ontario, Mo Val are easier.
I'll see if I can make it
I'll see if I can make it out...it's about the same travel time as L.A. anyway, and I've never driven the 71 that far so would be somewhat interesting to do so.

Finding Mimi's Cafe in Corona
For those not familiar with the area or venue, from the 91, exit McKinley north, then almost immediately turn right into the shopping center. Mimi's is right next to an El Torito; use the address with Google Maps and it shows this very clearly. Hope to see you all there!

I'll be there.

First Kickoff Meeting went very well
We had a very good meeting discussing organizational aspects of this new group. Thanks especially to Steve and Chris for taking the lead. We covered a lot, but had a relaxing dinner and got to know new people as well.
The exact meeting format, and the topics for the first few meetings are still to be finalized, but several ideas were put forward. We recognized there are natural differences between needs of newcomers vs. the old hands, differences between coders and themers, and so on. Basically, though, there's a lot of interest which we will hopefully translate into some really good meetings.
Looking forward to it!
John
I had a great time myself.
I had a great time myself. There is so much to learn from the members of the group.
Agreed! I really enjoyed meeting everyone!
Paul, Kevin, Chris, Michael and John, thanks for being a part of this.
Chris, huge thanks for the location. As Kevin showed, it ended up being central to all of tonights participants.
I really enjoyed hearing about everyone and how we used drupal as well as other past experiences when we were introducing ourselves.
I think our diversity is actually an advantage. It will help us keep a broad focus that will hopefully be welcoming to new members that join up later.

No problem. Let me know of any corrections.
User Group Cross-Pollination
Thanks, Paul, for great job on minutes. For a meeting in a restaurant and limited table room, the guy with the smallest laptop (netbook) definitely wins :)
In the discussion, you mentioned Linux Users Group Inland Empire, and that they were having a meeting coming up some Saturday soon. I'm interested in that as well, both for my own benefit, and I was also thinking of making an announcement about the new Drupal group. (You may have that covered already. Cool.)
So do you have a link to LUGIE, what, when, where? I'll also just try searching for it, but thought there was a value in having it here for anyone else. Thanks! - John

December 11th is their next meeting from 10-12.
I will be presenting on how to do a basic Drupal install with Ubuntu conveniently enough. So it would be an excellent opportunity for others to show up and foster group cross-pollination. Presumably there will also be other table topics but I don't have the details on those at this time.
Here is some of what we talked about in October:

Great first meeting
It was great meeting all of you - I'm looking forward to our next meetup December 9.
Paul - thanks for posting the minutes! ...
Everyone - a couple of us were discussing Drush (an amazingly useful command line interface to Drupal) in the parking lot... If you're thinking of using Drush check out this page: http://www.appnovation.com/we-heart-drush
FYI the backup service that Kevin was talking about tonight was Crashplan - www.crashplan.com

It was great to come along
It was great to come along and be part of the start of something new! And it'll be a little closer for me, though I'll still be going to the Downtown L.A. Meetups...which are awesome.
See you guys next time.
