Well, I go away for a few days, and when I check back in, we are up to 15 subscribers/members in the North Texas group! I greeted many of you individually, but if I have not yet had a chance, welcome to all of you! I knew there had to be more than just myself and a couple of friends that I introduced to Drupal around the North Texas area. ;-)
Now that we have a bigger group, we should think about getting together sometime just to meet each other. We won't have any big agendas; we'll just get together for dinner, happy hour, or something to meet, get to know everyone, and chat about how each of us is using (or considering using) Drupal. If you have thoughts or suggestions for a time/place, post them as comments on this story. Be sure to let everyone know where you are located so that we can try to find someplace central although that's tough in the sprawling metroplex. I am in Carrollton but work @ D/FW.

I live in Irving and work at D/FW — with Jim. Setting up a get-together is a great idea. And I'm pretty much open on where/when.
I work in Plano, live near Downtown Dallas
I'd love to meet sometime to discuss how to do things the Drupal way. I still write custom php scripts for forms and form processing. So, I'd love to discuss with others how to get over the hump and do with the forms api, writing modules, etc. Where do others' interests lie?

It's great to see that there are other Drupalers in the North Texas area. Jim, count me in on the meet-up. I live in Frisco and work in Richardson. I like your suggested approach for the initial meeting:
I'd like to throw out for discussion October 28th (Saturday) or 29th (Sunday) as potential dates. Venue to be determined. When all agree on a date, then we can post something on Drupal.org.

Late Oct. Meeting
Hi:
I'm Hank McFadyen, and I live and work in North Dallas. I'm planning a new website that will target a niche market worldwide and require CMS or blogging SW such as Drupal, typepad, Wordpress, or Zope. I'll be starting this as a hobby business, but it could become a real business. As I try to figure out what I want the website to do, I'm also looking at the available tools. Drupal is an obvious candidate---now I seek to meet folks who tell me how hard it is to use, maybe become a consultant, etc.
I thought the North Texas Drupal users group was stillborn, but now I'm happy to learn of activity. I will try hard to attend a meeting on Oct. 28 or 29.
