Drupal 7 Release Party - Brighton, 7th Jan 2011

UPDATE:
We've decided to go to the London party and instead focus on organising a Drupalcamp Brighton in 2011!

Festive greetings to one and all!

The Drupal South East UK club has been fairly quiet since I blew my budget on attending Drupalcon Copenhagen and DrupalCXO in Brussels however I'm keen to get things up and running bigger and better for 2011, starting in just a couple of weeks with a party!

Recently announced was the http://www.drupal7releaseparty.org/ initiative which you may have seen. Jon Markwell who runs http://theskiff.org coworking space has kindly offered use of the space for us. Apparently there's still some alcohol left from the skiffmas party, but I wouldn't count on that being too tasty still...

So... now all we need is some ideas, volunteers, sponsors, etc. It's quite late notice, but I'm sure we can organise something cool and fun. We need our own Kitten Killers tribute band for example ;)

I'll be working on things but thought I'd put the message out there as soon as possible so hopefully can get some help!

I think it would be a great way of showing that Drupal is everywhere - I know there's quite a few companies and freelancers working on Drupal in Brighton, so perhaps a few quick showcases would go down well. We could video them too so the wider world can see. Perhaps we can get WiredSussex and other places to help promote the event.
