At our initial NJIT meeting (we've met previous in Mahwah and East Rutherford) we compiled a list of topics we would like to discuss at the Northern NJ Drupal Group. This list was first posted by EMDash.
There is no specific order to this list. We should consider prioritizing however.
Topics to consider for the Northern New Jersey Drupal Group
- How to find/hire a good Drupal developer/themer/admin/etc
- Problem of the week
- New modules that you like/found
- Current issues
- Best practices
- Show/tell
- Newbie crash course
- Drupal aspect of the month - cck, views, etc
- Advanced techniques
- Performance issues, memcache, caching, etc
- Uber-advanced and uber-beginner stuff
- Split rooms - beginner and advanced?
- Workflow
- Concept to protoype to final project
- Features (modules)
- How to evaluate a module
- Implementing a drupal site
- GIT
- Drupal distros
- Code walk through
- Prototyping
- Mobile development
- jQuery and drupal
- Drupal as a business tool
- drupal 7
- Comparison to other CMS- Joomla, wordpress
- Site management
- Community managment
- Module review
- Taxonomy
- Drush and aegir
- Multi-sites - how/why
- Contributing - patches, documentation
- How to apply patches
- Volunteer and Pro Bono Projects: Benefits and Pitfalls
Suggestions for addressing the above topics
- We should consider prioritizing the above issues.
- We should each pick three topics; this help us to quickly filter and reorder the list by priority.
- We should address two topics at every meeting: (2)Problem of the week and (25)Drupal 7.
- We should each take ownership of a topic to address and present, regardless of our level of expertise.
