hi all
I have just given a presentation today to the Berkeley Drupal Users Group
and have proposed a similar presentation for the DrupalCamp at Stanford
https://drupalcamp.stanford.edu/sessions/drupal-openscholar-solr-aegir-n...
would be very interested in joining forces with others doing OpenScholar and making a more weighty and mixed presentation
PDF of slides of the "case study" today

Niccolo, that's a great
Niccolo, that's a great presentation! We should probably talk. It looks like you have some questions that we can answer and some good ideas that we want to hear more about.
I especially like the "Speculation" slide -:)

neat!
Niccolo, is there a recording of this I can download and watch? I'm quite curious to watch your presentation, I'm sure it's great :P
sorry, no, not yet
was meaning to, but my batteries went flat :<
What about integration?
Hey ho Niccolo!
Great to see you hammering and tonging at the open edges....
What I seem to be missing is the discussion on how this deploys in the "real" world...
I'm surveying OS suitability for a typical edu ecosystem, setting up the web presence for a new Institute. They will have Projects, People, Publications, and Partners (simplistically). And:
Research Management Dept: is in charge of all "projects", and want their UID inserted into any reference to Projects (so there's a foreign DB to deal with)
Human Resources: create authoritative records for all staff and students, and want their list to match anything that is published by the Institute
The Library is in charge of citations and repository management. So if I get our scholars to create their own references in OS+Bilblio (that's a very good thing) then we have a sync/integration issue with the "closed" OS implementation and its file system viz the Library's repository system (that's an unknown thing).
Partners are up for grabs, but I notice there is no in-built content type for this in OS...ie, a collaborating institution or agency gets its own page which can be node-reffed across the site for consistent reference in multiple projects.
So this all sort of boils down to the questions:
1: how nicely does OS play in relation to backend/legacy systems,
2: what are the options for api-driven data exchange, and
3: how amenable is OS to extensions to its content-type architecture
And BTW: it's all on thhe boil here in Oz...when are you going to demand a price on carbon? We need you man!
C02 price 150 euro per
C02 price 150 euro per tonne

I'll have to get back to you on the other stuff
