Reminder
Just pinging everyone that's subscribed to the group to remind them about the group meeting tomorrow night. If we have some time after Alex's presentation I'd like to do a quick demo on how cool hook_menu_alter() is in D6. It makes it really easy to fix permissions problems and hide parts of the site.
Alex's modules are cool
I didn't know Alex was the guy behind these cool modules. They are so cool that some people have suggested that they are "un drupal like" and that they shouldn't be hosted on drupal.org!! Fortunately those people came around to see the coolness, and we have some nice modules for cool stuff!
already calling for a do-over
This is a great topic and would be personally enjoying the presentation if not for the fact Philippe is in France and I'll be in Canada.
Alex, when's the next time?
Way cool
This is also one I'd love to see -- Flexifield looks incredibly useful: http://drupal.org/project/flexifield

You lucked out
Alex got stuck in traffic on I-5 behind a huge wreck and couldn't male it out up for the meeting so we'll have to reschedule him. Now you'll all have to be there ;)
I'm looking forward to next time
I'm very sorry to have not made it to the meeting. I got stuck behind this for about an hour and a half. I'll be happy to present OOP, Flexifield, and/or other modules there's interest in in September or whenever scheduling permits. In the meantime, I'll try to get some better documentation/screenshots/use-cases for them. I'm leaving for vacation in a week, and have some loose ends on client projects I need to wrap up before then, so the documentation will need to wait until I get back.
Enjoyed the meeting
Drewish and all,
It was great to meet everyone last night.
The high level feature sets of the core and various modules are what I can relate to.
I want to start off in 6.4 or whatever shows up when I press start.
Questions that come to mind that I hope to better understand over time:
Which modules are on the "A" list? To me this means they fall into one or more of the following categories:
What modules are members strong with or hope to see build out in the future?
Who likes to focus in one area verses work on all the pieces?
A list of the local members (and global) Drupal sites would be very interesting.
I will need to pull from everywhere to build my new sites in Drupal. I will leave the code in more capable hands than mine.
One meeting bonus that I didn't expect was that I now have the Green Dragon on my list of fun places.
I look forward to future meetings and hopefully getting to work with some of you.
