Glad to see this. Thanks
Glad to see this. Thanks for setting one up.
Organizing one here in the Springs was on my TODO list.
I'll be there.
It looks like this is going
It looks like this is going to attract quite a few people, which is quite exciting. I guess the Drupal do-ocrocy holds true again.

Woohoo!
I'm very excited to see this happen. A couple ideas: Search out and reach out to folks who you know who live near the springs and might be interested. I've emailed a person from Douglas County who might be interested. Firm up your presentation to one specific topic (theming and Drupal is a great one!) because that seems to bring in more people. Post this announcement to other lists/websites of folks who might be interested - meetup.com groups, php group, LAMP groups, entrepreneurs, non-profit tech groups, etc.
I'm going to try to make it down. It's very exciting to see this development.

carpool to Springs?
It was nice to meet Preston this weekend, I know there were other Monarch folks I didn't get to say hi to, sorry about that... I would love to help with gas costs from Denver or Boulder areas if anyone wants to share a ride. It's very possible I'll go up early on the Frex to see a little of the Springs, so sharing a ride back only would work too.
I loved having Drupalcamp at Denver Open Media, but it sure seems like we're going to need a much bigger place next year, great growth!
Dave
definitely carpooling
Whether it's just a bunch of us on Frex or a few of us in something smaller I think the Denver/Boulder folks heading down should go together. I'm happy to drive and DOM is on my way south out of town.

Carpool from Highlands Ranch
I will be in going to/from Highlands Ranch area and I can take 3 others. If we want to meet at Park Meadows Mall, then I can take a group the rest of the way and return to the Mall.
Just send me a email to let me know and reserve your spot ... Hurry because there are only 3 spots remaining and they are going Fast!!!
Looking forward to it ... Paul
Carpool
I'm game for a carpool. I'll volunteer as a passenger, but could also drive (up to three) if there's enough desire.
Carpool from Park Meadows
I have two seats left going from Park Meadows to the Colorado Springs meet-up tonight.
If anyone else wants to meet up at Chammps and head down, then we will be there at 4:30 and leave at about 4:45.
Let me know if you want a seat with me ... Paul
Thanks Preston!
Thanks so much to the folks at Monarch for organizing this! Very exciting. :)
I already posted...
I mentioned this event in the forums of the Colorado Springs Web Designers meetup group already...But their Monthly Meetup happens on the same night. (I realized that after I posted, oops.)
I'll be spreading the word, best that I can.
I don't know how you guys are for space, If we end up needing more (hey, you could always hope) we have lots of it -- http://events.usafa.org
Facebook
I've created a Facebook group for us. Feel free to join it even if you're in DBUG and just plan on coming down for just this meetup or a few others. I've created an event as well, so getting the word out is well on its way.
theming out of the box
There've been a few suggestions from people that we do an encore presentation of "Theming Out of the Box", our session at DrupalCamp, at the Colorado Springs meetup. If there's any demand for this, we'll do it.
An encore would be great ...
An encore would be great ... I can still hear the clapping!
first meeting
I'm looking forward to my first drupal group meeting!
Can I bring anything?
Shall I bring some consumables?
Pizza, sodas and water
That's OK. I'll provide pizza, sodas and bottled water. If you don't eat pizza, you might want to bring something else!

SCUG Meetup was a Success
A lot of topics were discussed including image, imagefield, imagecache, creating a module 101, basic theming introduction, a case study to the Monarch Digital website.
We also talked about how this event will continue. We set a monthly schedule as every first Thursday of the month at 6:30.
Some topics of interest for further meetups include:
Drupal 101 (Building your site) for a Saturday?
-Drupal, and a CMS
-What's a node, block, view (jargon)
-Installing Drupal
-Installing a theme
-Installing modules (updating)
-Users/roles/permissions
-Calendar/event
-Finding modules (common modules)
--CCK / Views
Drupal 102
-Input Filters
-Multimedia
--Streaming Video / Audio
-Creating a theme (from scratch)
-i18n/l10n
Community Features
-Forums
-Organic Groups
Multisite Installs
LinkedIn
There are more than a few Drupal groups on LinkedIn ... including at least one specifically for libraries on Drupal. Given the group tonight, I thought that might be of interest to a few folks.
Great First Meetup!
I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the meetup quite a bit. I learned that I was using the lesser of two modules in a couple of instances, and also learned the basics of a multisite setup which was awesome! I might have to do that in the very near future. Can't wait until the next one.
