The first part of our May meeting will begin with a brief presentation from Melissa Anderson (eliza411) on how to get involved with the Drupal documentation team, followed by a presentation from Bill Fitzgerald (bonobo) from FunnyMonkey about how to review code. Learn how code review benefits experienced and new contributors alike and how it improves the community. Then, join in for hands-on code review in small groups or, if it's your preference, get started working with Drupal documentation.
After FunnyMonkey's hands-on workshop, we welcome out-of-town guest Alan Palazollo (zzolo) who will expand on code review skills, explaining how to release code on Drupal.org. We'll finish the evening with a sprint to approve full project applications led by zzolo.

Contributing to Drupal.org documentation
As someone who would be far more comfortable working in documentation, I thought it would be ideal to present a brief introduction to working with documentation on Drupal.org as well. That way, when we dive into the hands-on portion, there will be something for everyone.

Yay!
I am really excited to happen to be in town for this!
I will have a short presentation (5-10 minutes) on the review process and then we can get started. The following could be done before hand.
So, I wrote up my thoughts on how a Code Review Sprint could/should go: http://groups.drupal.org/node/142499 Blog post promoting this tomorrow.

May 11th or 12th?
Bill's writeup at http://funnymonkey.com/community-development-and-code-reviews says the meeting is on May 12th, but this announcement shows May 11th at 6 pm.
Is the meeting on May 11th or May 12th?
Thanks!
Marc
Definitely May 11
Thanks for clarifying. It's definitely May 11, and Bill's write up says that now, too.
Our formal user group meetings are routinely the second Wednesday of each month (the informal meet ups are the fourth Tuesday).
Thanks! And the location?
Thanks, Melissa. I'm sure I can figure this out with a few clicks (or by asking Bill), but what's the location? Is there a Location field on the Event node that can be filled in?
Location change for May user group meeting
In order to facilitate small group work for this meeting and also to facilitate the sprint which follows, the May user group meeting will be held at Tigerlogic. The meeting is at the same time, from 6pm - 7:30pm. We will transition into the Full project application sprint toward the end of our regular time and continue working.
Tigerlogic
1532 SW Morrison St., 2nd Floor
Portland, OR 97205
Themers / Designers Welcome, too!
I think it's also worth noting that modules aren't the only kind of projects that can be reviewed here. If you have a theme that needs to be reviewed, are interested in theming best practices, or need guidance turning your design into code, I'll be there and happy to help!

slides and thank yous
Hey all, thanks so much for having me. It was really awesome! I really don't think it could have gone better or been more fun.
Here are my slides from last night. They are nothing too exciting, but a start on something that can maybe be reused:

Hopefully this weekend I will get to making a blog post about it and trying to sum up all the great things that happened.
Thanks again!
