There's a possibility that flag.module will be used for project issue subscriptions. If we're using it already, I can think of a few other things we could do with it.
Although I'm skeptical about voting, one thing that'd be cool is the ability to see who's using a module. So I could flag projects as "I've used this module", then see who's used it, and with a little bit of work, we could have a "Users who used this modules also used these" block as well. And it'd be easy enough to do a "projects I use" tab on /downloads as well.

Update status tells us these
Update status tells us these numbers.
I think there is an anonymized code to identify each site, so we could theoretically do sites that use this module also use these modules. As long as privacy concerns are kept in mind, a lot is possible.
.
It's not about the numbers, it's about the people. So anonymizing it would ruin that. I would love to see who else is using a module and what modules someone uses. Taking a look at what some of the 'bots use, for instance, is helpful to me.

Exactly
I'd specifically not want this to be about numbers of people - just d.o usernames - and people, not sites. It'd be opt-in, so I don't think privacy would be a concern as long as it's clear.
huh?
huh? That'd uncover that I'm not even using a few of the modules I'm maintaining! :-D

This could be slick for all kinds of uses...
Some other ideas to throw into the mix:
We could provide an "issues from projects I'm using" page. It'd be sort of like "My projects" but for any project you want to flag, not just the ones you own or co-maintain. In fact, we could make "My projects" a tabbed page, with tabs for "Own", "Maintain" (CVS access), "Use" (this flag), etc.
We could have a filter on d.o/security to "Only show SAs for projects I'm using".
We could have an optional block for "10 latest releases from projects I'm using" that users could enable.
And, of course, there'd be the gee-whiz value of going to the "People using this project" page and seeing who's willing to admit to using a given piece of code. ;)
This is what I'm talking about!
Really nice ideas, all of them. We could do rss feeds and/or notifications for 'releases from projects I'm using' too and a bunch of other stuff like that which'd help with filtering things a lot.
