While I'm completely in support of providing full support for A-grade browsers and using progressive enhancement to ensure that the maximum number of users can easily access content on drupal.org, I think it might also be nice to provide an alternate stylesheet for mobile device users as well. I think that a version of drupal.org that was optimized for the iPhone and other similar devices would add tremendous value.
I agree that mobile support should be considered and planned, however, I do not think it needs to be done during initial implementation. If we keep it in mind from the beginning while developing the theme, it can make things easier down the road. I've worked on themes before that were able to elegantly collapse for viewing on a phone with minor additions to a mobile stylesheet.
Amazon - do you have the specific usage numbers for Drupal.org? IE 6 is on its way out, and we might be able to remove it early depending on how many of our users use it.
IE 6 is down to 5% on d.o and no longer supported by Micorsoft. People who still use it are using outdated, insecure software. We shouldn't support them.

I don't think ie6 should be a top priority, and I think we should warn users that they are using a out of date, poorly supported browser. That being said, I think we should make some effort to ensure the content is accessible, and the layout isn't broken. You will notice the Graded browser support doc we came up with shows IE6 as a Grade B browser.
B-grade support means that slightly degraded experience or functionality is considered acceptable is considered as long as all of the main features of the site remain usable and accessible.
For example, the loss of rounded corners on elements is acceptable, as long as they degrade gracefully to square shapes. Likewise, the loss of drop-down navigation is considered acceptable, as long as no content is rendered inaccessible by that loss of functionality.
I have found that it is not tremendously difficult to support IE6. It may be because it was a primary browser to support not too long ago, so I'm just used to it. Nevertheless, I find that giving an adequate experience to IE6 users is not too difficult at this juncture as long as you don't try to go with an entirely advanced CSS approach.
I have begun to give IE6 users "degraded" support so I may be able to use more appropriate means to do things, such as transparent PNGs for other browsers, and using only solid color renderings for IE6.
As much as we all so much want to direly abandon IE6... not yet... We can still ensure they can access all available content in a reasonable manner.
IE6 is a bitch to support - and I personally hate it with every fiber of my small body...
But it isnt *that * big a problem to get the basic for it to work - and especially not by the look of the design.
Theres some smalle stuff (like the blue bar in the top right of the "outer body) i woudnt use my time on, but besides that its durable.
support for the mobile devices would be sweet, and with clearly defined semantic naming that is possible, but imho that should be a 2 priority after all the "normal" browser issues are in place.
Does Yahoo small business support drupal? I tried to install the program and the files and a error message comes up. Can someone look at my page and help me. :(
Thanks

Support for mobile device users?

IE6 is still at 10% among existing users.

Yep, looks like we should keep supporting it. Other browsers, like Opera, would good to know about too.

Note that the same applies to Firefox 2.

Thoughts?
IE 6 is not "poorly"
IE 6 is not "poorly" supported. It is not supported. Period. It is risky to use it considering that there probably are known exploits.
That being said, I am ok with it remaining in the B group.
Keep IE6 at B-Grade

Not the right place to get support for external hosting
@fanciwebservices,
this five year old discussion thread is about how Drupal.org can provide graded browser support.
