Does mail2web replace og2list?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

yes mail2web looks like a more streamlined solution. I haven't tested it, but i think a difference might be that mail2web wouldn't allow new nodes to be created from mail. has anyone else tried this?
