A number of related initiatives aimed at reducing the full project applications backlog are currently being discussed. The backlog is now approaching seven weeks. These initiatives include:
- Using multiple people to complete a review, instead of having a single reviewer complete the whole thing. The objective is to allow people to participate in the process, even though they may not feel qualified to do a full technical review.
- Using a two stage process to facilitate the use of multiple people. The Screening stage would include licensing and module duplication reviews. The Technical Review stage would include review for overall understanding and use of Drupal API's, security and other best practices.
- The use of 'active' issue status to differentiate between applications in the screening stage and the review stage. Currently all applications are set to either 'needs review' or 'needs work'.
- The use of an incentive program, such as expedited applications to encourage more people to participate in the process.
I am currently conducting polls to guage support for these ideas. I would very much appreciate your taking a few moments to complete the polls.
