Start:
2008-11-12 19:00 - 21:00 America/Los_Angeles
Event type:
User group meeting

Now that we have our wonderful new home at Platt College, we can start doing real presentations.

[UPDATE from Joel Farris] The topic of this meeting will be...Lightning talks! Unless Harry's concocted another badass presentation that I don't know about, we'll be doing a round of lightning talks, followed by a group discussion of the topic that interested you most during the talks.

Lightning Talks work like this. You pick a topic, drop your name into a hat, wait to be called, jump up in front of the 'class', and introduce us to your favorite module, theme, idea, project, vaporware, whatever. You have five minutes, and I do mean five minutes, to present your talk. Once the five minute timer goes off, you're gonna shut up and sit down, then the next person goes immediately after you. Names will be drawn from a hat by Joel, and we'll only do this for an hour.

Once the hour is up, it's time for group discussion. During the talks, we'll expect you to pick out one or possibly two people who have an interesting idea. Seek them out, and ask them for some more in-depth details. They'll be more than happy to expound. Just remember that even as you're asking about other's talks, they'll be seeking you out as well.

Cool? It'll be fun! We will learn a lot of stuff from each other that we otherwise won't even have the opportunity to know.

Oh, and next month, One of the Achieve Internet Gang will be presenting a lesson on how to customize a stock Drupal Theme, and we'll also expect at least two of the Platt College design students to give us a brief (10 min) overview of what they've been working on throughout this semester.

See you tomorrow night!

I added a bunch of info to the Meeting post. Among the updates was:

Sorry, folks, I won't be making it tonight

I have a horrendous cough, and despite my best efforts to get better, it's just not working. I won't be attending the meetup tonight. Sorry.

Harry, it's all yours, baby. Lead the way, and Show Them The Drupalz!
