Same answer
Nearly a year later and my answer is the same. :( I guess if I want it bad enough I'm going to have to code it myself.

I'm looking for folks to help me out by posting in my Coulee Region forums. You don't need to live in the area; there's plenty of general forums. But please, no Drupal support questions. :)
Tricky choice
I slide between "No, I haven't figured out how it would help" and "No, Twitter is irrelevant and pointless" depending on what mood I'm in.
So I decided to pick the less grumpy option :)

Funnily enough, some of the bloggers on our Unreality Shout site have exchanged Twitter IDs with me, and we chat on Twitter about the site and stuff we've written about. I'll occasionally congratulate one of the members on a recent post or share ideas. One of our members asked me to contribute a "Hottest women of Primeval" list to her fan group, but in the style of personal ads!
I think it's great fun, and gives us a chance to chat outside of the limitations of the Unreality Shout community. Who knows, it might bring a few more members in to the site and we can expand this little Twitter/Shout community!
Has anyone tried implementing Twitter modules for Drupal in a multiuser site?
Yes, a bit.
I've just done an assignment on Twitter Vs Facebook Vs MySpace Vs a few others on the eCommerce side of things. To be honest, it appears totally useless... I think when I knew less about it (not that there's really a lot to know), I liked the idea of it more. It's just all the annoying features of group sms really, without the numeric phone keypad and bulk charging for group sms, haha.
In saying that, I've used the Twitter module on my site. This is mostly because "it's the next big thing" (when they make some money from it) and I figured another contact medium couldn't hurt me.
Original poll is about a year old now...
I think it would be interesting to re-poll people now. I would have voted 'No, I haven't figured out how it would help' last November but today the answer would hover between the first two options (depending on the community). :)
