We'll need a website. It doesn't need a lot, but it needs to be repeatable. If there's one thing this community needs right now, it's a way to have a local Drupal camp website at the click of a button(s). We'll use Patterns to do this. It'll be a great first run for a massively distributed site plan.
So, what does a Drupal Camp website need to do? Edit this post and add your thoughts!
Needs for the users
1. Register
2. Propose a Session
3. Vote for Session
4. Download Schedule
5. Submit a Logo / Vote on a Logo
Needs for the Conference Coordinator(s)
1. Post a Schedule
2. Easily reorder session schedule based on votes.
3.
Needs for the Site Administrators
1. Great theme! We want to attract non-Drupalers - visuals are key.
2. Collect reg fees (if any)
3.

There's a 'conferences' install profile
Merlinofchaos just pointed out a Conferences install profile. http://drupal.org/project/cod. Unfurtunately, it's buggy, and looks to be D5 only. Bummer.
It'll be good to look at it's structure tho, just to see how they did it. Heck, we might install one and then just upgrade the virgin site to D6.

Attendee list would be nice,
Attendee list would be nice, but maybe not really a "need". Never used Patterns but it looks interesting and like it makes install profiles unnecessary?
I just noticed Patterns is
I just noticed Patterns is D5 only, as well. Ick!
There's a Drupal 6 branch of the Patterns module
Gravitech Labs is hard at work on the Drupal 6 branch of Patterns, and I'm using it on the site right now and helping to iron out some real-world bugs. Yay! Go Patterns!

Coming right up
So I just picked up drupalsd.com and I'll be unpacking a fresh D6 in there shortly. Once we get all the parts we need for the drupal camp site up and running, we can roll it into a profile for everyone to use. Hey, that might even be a good session tutorial since there aren't many d6 install profiles yet. If you want to be an admin for the new DrupalSD site, let me know and I'll promote you.

Can haz svn, plz?
Could we have this site in Subversion? Unfuddle, or Beanstalk?

Agreed. I signed up and
Agreed. I signed up and would like to help out.
unfuddle
set up the free account with subversion? We'd only have 1 or 2 accounts, so we can't track commits, but at least the code would be safe.
logo contest
the new site should let us vote for logo submissions - SD drupal has never had one :)
Unfuddled
I setup an unfuddle account. Hit me up for the SVN credentials.

Oh, bummer.
I already have a paid, monthly Unfuddle account that's lying dormant right now and I would donate it to the cause. Have you already set up the codebase? If so, forget about it. If not, let's use mine, cause I have 10 users who could use the ticketing system and track their svn commits.
Let me know.

What next?
So now we have the Drupal code at Unfuddle. What about a DB dump?
How are we going to actually build the site? I am new to this collaborative site building (though familiar with svn in a conventional build environment without database to worry about), so please excuse the dumb questions and educate me. Thanks.
Maybe this discussion should move to the site itself?

DB and SVN
I'll add in some phpMyAdmin goodness and setup a cronjob to update the site every hour. I'll let you know when I get those rolling.

I also setup phpmyadmin at
I also setup phpmyadmin at drupalsd.com/db withe the same credentials as the svn for anyone who wants to grab a DB dump. I added a crontab entry as well to make sure it gets updated hourly.

we need an ad
for the drupal.org homepage. From Drupalcamp Announcements on D.O:
We should time this with the site launch.
Let's revisit this after the Thanksgiving weekend. I heard that Dimitri and Igor were working on the site. We can advertise it when the initial site launches. Good?

Site Update
I made some changes to the site to allow for session submission and voting, as well as a forum for us to move our discussion to.
This thread is now migrating to www.drupalsd.com/discussions under "Site"

Sign up and get talking!
Hey Everyone,
I've made some changes to the website(drupalsd.com) and seeded a few discussion topics, but we need to get people talking. If you haven't already, sign up for an account at drupalsd.com, post your session ideas, vote for existing sessions, and get talking in the discussion forums. Let get this ball rolling!!

Isn´t there a drupal login module?
I coulda sworn that I´d heard about a module where users could login w/their drupal.org account? Or was that just some pie-in-sky dream I had.
Very nice job on the site folks! :)
Sorry, that's D5
That module existed on Drupal 5. Unfortunately for you, our http://drupalsd.com site is D6.7 so we cannot use the drupal.module. Instead, we've turned on openID.module for your logging pleasure.
