I tried to accomplish this

Jax - Mon, 2008-12-08 11:23

I tried to accomplish this via google maps but was not very successful. Today this http://www.multiracio.com/eurooffice/products/eurooffice-map-chart-profe... came up on linux.com. I'll see if that can be used to accomplish this task.

I started with this too

sinuz's picture
sinuz - Mon, 2008-12-08 11:57

I started with this too yesterday, i found this map of europe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Blank_maps#Europe (but the netherlands do not look very nice on it).
If someone has a nice clean map of europe (preferably as a vector graphic) i could make both maps.

Maybe these?

Jax - Mon, 2008-12-08 12:34

Can these maps http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Europe help? (Scroll down).

#6 write a maximum 150 words bio about yourself

batigolix's picture
batigolix - Fri, 2008-12-05 06:29

Task #6 write a maximum 150 words bio about yourself.

the proposal will contain a section about the organizers. therefore i need you to write a short (max 150 words) biography about yourself

include elements that impress the Association (for example: experience, drupal-community-value, karma-points, youthful enthousiasm), but don't forget to mention that you are human (mention things that make you tick (beside drupal))

write in 3rd person. so instead of "I'm a Microsoft Sharepoint consultant" write "He is a Microsoft Sharepoint consultant"

send them to me or dump it directly into the proposal

"The hyperactive Dutch-speaking

hyperactive can be associated with negative feelings. just make it active

drupal community

Dries -unlike me- uses correct capitalisation and is keen on writing Drupal with a capital D

has been around for a long time

has been around from the early days of the drop.org community. From the start, the Dutch community was broader then just coders but included business people, people who document, focussed on security; hence people who contributed in more ways the "just code". Tis richness has in teh last couple of years really paid of in a booming broad ecosystem around Drupal where users, coders and buisness together unite.

and is also one of the foundations that drupal is built on (even user/1 could be considered a member of it).

I dont think that claiming the fact that Dries speaks Dutch helps in any way.

It consist of drupalistas from the small area of Flanders and the Netherlands that gather often at drupaljams, code sprints, monthly user group meetings and tech conferences such as Fosdem.

and Tdose (mind the D's)

They collaborate online on drupal.be and their countless groups.drupal.org sites.

as well as meat each other face to face.

While working hard on improving drupal.be they found time to work on this proposal.

Irrelevant for the reader. d.be is inside in.

Dutch-speaking drupalistas made up 10% of Sezegd's attendants.

needs an intro, like the Dutch Drupal users are active in the bigger european community etc

They

We

liked the atmosphere of this small University town so much that they a pushing to host the 2009 conference in a similar place like Maastricht."

great start. needs a bit more love. next round any takers?

I do not know id claimimng the users who are active in the .nl/be community works pro or contra the propossal but there are many dutch Drupal heros
* berkes : wrote many modules, promoted Drupal
* heine, long term user, active in security team
* gaele: active in UI teams
* krimson team: active in promoting, learning, building, contributing
* yoroy: active in UI (views)
* ... many more?
* ahum bert: donated drupal.org, board member Drupal Association, organiser DruaplCon Amsterdam, co organiser Barcelona

Here's the text again with Bert's remarks incorporated, some slight editing and other ideas:

The Dutch-speaking Drupal community has been around from the early days of the drop.org community. From the start, the Dutch community was broader than just coders and included business people, people who document, focussed on security; hence people who contributed in more ways than "just code". This rich mixture of enthousiasts has resulted in a booming broad ecosystem around Drupal where users, coders and business unite.

It consists of active drupalistas from the small area of Flanders and the Netherlands that gather often at drupaljams, code sprints, monthly user group meetings and tech conferences such as Fosdem and T-Dose. They collaborate online on drupal.be, their countless groups.drupal.org sites and meet face to face as well.

It is true our studievereniging uses drupal for their website, but i'm not a "staff member" of that website altough i use a Drupal OG installation for project groups i am part of. Next to that i manage (and have themed) a few drupal websites for example my father's and the website of the rowing club in maastricht.
