Springs Drupal Meet-up: Thursday, December 11, 6:30 p.m.
Join us for our next meet-up graciously hosted by East Library in Colorado Springs. Note that this is a change from our regular scheduled time: our December meet-up will be on the second Thursday of December rather than the first. We'll start socializing at 6:30, and the actual chatter will begin at 7:00. Unfortunately, our host locks up at 9, so we'll have to be out by then.
Comment with what you would like to see on the agenda, and this event description will be updated accordingly. We'll be talking about PPLD's new Drupal-based kiosk system, new Drupal user outreach, and possibly the Location module (?). If you want to talk about something, we'll definitely talk about it.
Regular DBUG attendees are always very welcome!

See you there!

Does anyone know the Location module?
Does anyone have any experience with the Location module or related modules Gmap, etc.? Any kind of demo would be great.
Kiosk project
Hi there,
Cheryl and I would like to present our first completed Drupal project at this meetup, if anyone is interested. It's a small website, but a big learning experience.
Drupal user outreach
Sometime, I would like to try to use one of our regular meetings as an outreach to non-technical Drupal users or potential Drupal users.
I have 5 or 6 people (ranging from media personalities to dentists) who have Drupal sites that could really benefit from understanding (and supporting) the local Drupal community and learning the power of Drupal. We could do a broad smorgasbord of local Drupal sites highlighting unique features along with famous national sites.
Recently, I was actually shocked to lose a bid for an RFP to a company using a proprietary (paid) CMS. The company won through "proving" that Drupal was not really ready for production. This situation resulted in just a lack of information.
I am more than willing to organize and recruit attendees for an event like this if folks out there would also have users or potential users to invite.

great to hear
I think it's great to run a "newbie" oriented meetup every few months to help spread interest in Drupal.
December is usually a quiet month for meetups (the December 2006 bug-fixing meetup was just me working on issues all night!) but for January or February this seems like a great idea.
There is a fair amount of advice on http://groups.drupal.org/node/10436 and http://groups.drupal.org/node/9393 about how to find related local groups where you can advertise the meetup to help draw in additional people who are not yet familiar with Drupal.

re: Drupal user outreach
This is a great idea! I hope we can implement it here in Boulder. Will mention it at our next meeting.
thanks,

Great idea
Hi Rick,
Any time you can get the people together and want to do a newbie thing at our meetings would be great.
Attendees?
Hi folks,
As we've only had three people sign up for this meeting and one of them just cancelled (the other two are myself and Preston), should we cancel this meeting? I know of three people who normally attend that won't be there tonight.
Anyone out there planning on coming tonight? If so, please signup or let us know.
Thanks!!
I'm planning on coming
I'm planning to be there (if it will be happening). Just forgot to sign up!

Drupal Meetup Tonight
Sorry, about that. I was also planning on attending but forgot to respond. I used to get email reminders but haven't been receiving those. Completely forgot about last month.
*Just recruited a techie friend to attend. Her question: Will there be food? :-)
Jen
Food
I think we're not doing food anymore. Folks are eating before they come.

Looks like we're on!
Well, we have some attendees, so looks like we're on for tonight. See you then!
Laptop Available
Sorry I had to bail out for tonight. I have sent the logon info and where to find the laptop to Virginia.

So much to learn, so little time!
Chemistry test
I hate to cancel my attendance at the last minute, but I've come to realize that I have a lot more to study for my chemical equilibrium test than I realized. I'm certain everyone can have a great time without me being present!
