I'm working to roll out some new district and building sites using zen theme as a base and am finding that the Internet Explorer pages are taking 5-7 seconds to load while firefox loads the pages almost instantly. Any ideas on what I might have done wrong in theming the site ( http://www.zps.org )?
So far I have tried turning off modules, using YSlow, using online page analysis tools, and changing out graphics. It feels like I may have some CSS issue...just not sure.
Thanks to anyone who might be willing to take a quick look and point me in some direction.

Maybe IE isn't caching your files for some reason? Have you checked out to see what the headers are for your site? I see a lot of 304 - not modified, but maybe IE is redownloading all your CSS, JS and Image files each time?
Also, is taking a while to render, or to download? You could also try putting your JS in the footer of your website...
comparable load times
I just took a look, and the site loaded well in both IE 7 and FF3 on a PC -- and, a look at the source showed you are aggregating the js and css, which was my suspected culprit.
If you are still seeing issues, I recomment trying to replicate those issues on different computers over different networks/connections.
And nice site, btw!
Cheers,
Bill

No access at all from Germany
I can't access the site at all from Germany with neither browser at the moment :-(
That might indicate a problem with your hosting provider or the DNS system.

SOLVED...I think
Thanks for the feedback. I think I tracked down the problem. I used Zen for my base theme and then modified the page.tpl.php file from Zen for some custom tweaks. Then I upgraded Zen to the latest version. It turns out that the page.tpl.php file had some [if IE] statements that appear to no longer be used in the latest version of Zen. So, long story short, I removed those if statements and it appears to be resolved.
Bill, I appreciate your feedback about the look of the site and some areas to check. BTW, I enjoyed your interview on the Lullabot podcast. I plan to buy the book very soon.
Frank, I'm suprised that you couldn't get to it from Germany. I'll do some research on that to see what is going on. Thanks for checking it.
