User group meeting

The work on open curriculum is moving forward, and we're hoping to get some wider attention to verify (and improve) the things we have so far.

Time for the meeting was Wednesday, September 28th, 15:00 Swedish time == 2 PM London time == 8 AM US/Central time. (Sorry for the early US time. And for writing the times in an unclear way.) Place was IRC, on channel #drupal-skillmap.

Notes from the meeting

  • "Subject areas" are now renamed "skill sets", mostly due to Itangalo's firm hand on this matter.
  • Roles will not be discussed during this round of feedback. We start with the skill sets, and build from there.
  • Also, skill sets that are not specific to Drupal will not be discussed during this round of feedback – again to get some core things done and build from there.
  • Itangalo sets up a page here on g.d.o, that can be used for collecting feedback.
  • Heather writes a post to Drupal Planet, to describe what's going on and ask for feedback.
  • There will be another quick meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 1PM Swedish time, where currently only Itangalo and Heather will talk. Ping anyone of us if you're interested in joining.
  • There will be a list of concrete tasks set up (such as taking on individual skill sets for more detailed descriptions, or do interviews to get feedback on the skill sets). That list is not yet written.

Suggested questions for feedback

These are suggested questions for feedback on the skill sets:

  1. Do you think your Drupal related skills/competence can be described by the skill sets?
  2. If you were looking for a Drupal talent to work with or hire, do you think the skill sets can capture the (Drupal related) skills/comptence you’d like to find?
  3. If you were looking to learn more Drupal related skills, do you think the skill sets would help you find skills/competences to focus on?
  4. Do you feel that any skill or competence is missing?
  5. Do you feel it is difficult to know what is meant by any particular skill set?
  6. Do you think trying to describe Drupal skills and competence like this would be useful for yourself or Drupal people you know?

Thanks to Heather, dougvann, heyrocker, heyintern (Haugen) and linclark for a good meeting!
