Hi all ,
We are looking at running a small DrupalCamp in November this year. It will help bring industry players and users together... We will focus on discussions and how to generally build a stronger local community moving forward.
One of the key tasks obviously is to find sponsorship for the event to fund Venue, Publicity, and so on. We also need to work on the website... I will update with a full task list as soon as we establish enough interest...
Please lets hear your thoughts...

Yes, lets go
Good Idea Bade,
Im up for it.
cheers

this is a brilliant idea. my
this is a brilliant idea. my little fear is that we don't have that much drupal users here in nigeria. most developers are either using joomla or wordpress. is the camp also going to target converting people to drupal?
you may be surprised
Well , You may be surprised at how many people may have fiddled with it a point or the other...
I think there will be a broad spectrum of beginners, intermediate and experts at the event ...
The presentations will be geared to a general audience though ... I am thinking of a break out session as well for various levels ... let see how this goes ...
Wonderful Clarification
It's true that Joomla and wordpress have been used by various developers in building a wide range of websites and applications. But the power of developers rest in the power of using Drupal. It's flexible and will help alot of folks to step up in both increasing their learning curve and find ways of building interesting applications that cannot be done with either wordpress or joomla.
Yes,....I'm sure drupal will convince ALOT OF FOLKS and get them BAPTIZE into using DRUPAL.

Yay! Drupal Nigeria 2011.
Yay! Drupal Nigeria 2011. Second year in a roll. Glad this is happening.
@aphoe Do you have any thoughts?
The skillset is still much a bit of a challenge. Core Drupal devs are lacking, but we hope to do some training.
Looking forward to seeing you around.

3RD Year
It's actually third year of inception of Drupal Camp in Nigeria. Like I did tell you, the first one was almost never known as I was the only facilitator as well as the organizer. I'm glad a number of us are turning in to it.
Roll up
You better roll-up your sleeves for more hands are going to be on deck very soon....Glad you kicked it up..Sorry for coming late to help...

Drupal Nigeria 2011
You'll be shocked how many people are Using Drupal in Nigeria. We are using Drupal at Daily Times (http://dailytimes.com.ng) & I recently discovered the developers of MTN's website (http://mtnonline.com) have switched to Drupal. We need to get word out & I'm thumbs up for another, more successful Drupal Nigeria geek fest. Let us also approach Co Creation Hub (http://cchubnigeria.com) & see how they can help us, & we can help them & our community as well.
As for website development in Drupal, it would be nice to experiment collaborative work, though I have discovered in relatively ugly ways that we still have a lot to learn in Nigeria about team work.

Honest Truth
I like it when raw truth are spoken unaltered. Yes, we have a very big problem with collaboration. During a video interview i had access to where the creator of PHP(Rasmus Lerdorf) pointed out that "anybody can make use of my tools i don't care... I sell service not technology"). I've come to term with the fact that here in Nigeria we think collaboration is service (its a technological term for ...working together to achieve a common goal).
But i have a dream that DrupalCamp 2011 will change all that very very very soon. Where "ANY" level of skillset will work together, learn and improve the scale.
Go Drupal....

Hi, @chillpill Thought you've
Hi, @chillpill
Thought you've gone into space. It is interesting to know that Drupal is used in big organizations like MTN. I remembered I approached them for sponsorship at the last Drupal Camp and they turned it down :). Probably this is another opportunity to re-approach.
I agree that we have a lot to learn when it comes to collaborative work. I'm facing that myself on current team projects I'm working on and it is really disappointing how developers code here in Nigeria. Maybe we should be doing more training and meetups with core focus on working collaboratively and social coding using Drupal+git as a yard stick.
It will be great to see you around again. Phew! Is it already 1 year?
:off-topic: You did not tell me you've left paga :)
t: @charyorde
I am in space bro!!!
I haven't left Paga. Not sure if I will leave anytime soon. I need to be sure that I have helped Nigerian developers & in fact the entire populace solve their (our) "PayPal frustration". We have some great products coming up that will interest developers & e-commerce websites & I'm pushing for dedicated Drupal, WordPress & Joomla modules (plug-ins) to be developed.
Every other thing I do with Drupal is a night/weekend job ;)
Chill Pill
A simple Opinion
Like Badesemowo said.."One of the key tasks obviously is to find sponsorship"... We need companies in Nigeria and abroad who are using Drupal as part of their technological tool and see how we could boost the program.
Everyone wants to partake on "SUCCESS" but find it hard during the "MAKING OF SUCCESS".
So this is a golden opportunity for MTN, DailyTimes and the rest of the geeks out there ("in all skillset") to push Drupal forward for a greater purpose.
I believe that this year Drupal 2011 will be fun. I move a motion for the following to be made available:
-Project Coordinator
-Community Manager
-Project Lead Developer
-Public Relation Officer
Just thought that if we need to create a Camp, we need Executives with face...i'm open to criticism and views
"As long as its a technology, it can be developed"
At this point I will suggest
At this point I will suggest we get more faces in. We need to know each and everyone's expertise before assigning roles. I'm not against assigning responsibilities, but I think it is rather too early as we have not achieved our primary purpose which is to get the website up and functioning to attract more volunteers.
t: @charyorde
DrupalCamp
It's great to see it all going this way. I hope we keep to it. I had initially left out this year in the order and was already making plans for 2012 but I'm glad Bade is taking it all up for this year. I learnt quite a number of things at the DrupalCamp, Helsinki and DrupalCamp Baltic that I really would love to share but unfortunately I'm not around for the camp this year.
At this point we need the
At this point we need the website built up. We need hands in building the website up. The domain will be available again shortly. But as it stands all files are still available. What we need right now is building the website content and Drupal themers to put the website in good shape.
There won't be much backend development needed. I have installed COD Drupal distro for getting the website up as soon as possible. I am hoping we will use this medium to talk features we want on the website, and in the long run use as it our Drupal home for community projects. Of course, we will still want to leverage d.o for community contributed projects if any surfaced :)
t: @charyorde
No need to re-invent the wheel...
There is a great Drupal showcase post on d.o about "Building a Conference Website and Giving It All Away: How It Was Done at DrupalCampLA 2009". The links to the download files are no more available but I'm sure I have them somewhere on an external hard drive.
For those who don't know about "COD Drupal distro" please refer to "Conference Organizing Distribution (Drush make files and install profile)." The distro files can be downloaded from here.
I honestly don't see any reason why we can't use the distro as 'default' as it is. And honestly, 1 or 2 guys can crack this out in 1 or 2 hours of work. Many Drupal Conference sites are not so "themed". No need to complicate matters by inviting 5, 10 or 20 designers, themers & developers to put together 1 quickie site. A nice background image/graphic & some exciting fonts is more than enough.
We should focus on the conference theme (if any), agenda, reach out to speakers & sponsors (home & abroad), social media campaigning and maybe some online & traditional advertising.
I can contribute $100 for a Google AdWords campaign & pledge to speak/present @ DrupalCampLagos2011
#DrupalCampLagos2011: I pledge to support/speak/present/sponsor Drupal Camp Lagos November 2011
Chill Pill
How far with the COD?
How far with the Drupal COD installation for DrupalCamp Lagos?
By the way, is this site for the entire Drupal Nigeria, or DrupalCamp Lagos? What is the distinction between the 2?
I would suggest we built the sites differently so they are easier to manage. As a matter of fact, we should build this year's conference site on a separate subdomain such as 2011.drupalcamplagos.com. Every year we increment the subdomain & we can redirect the main domain drupalcamplagos.com to the subdomain for the current year i.e visitors who type in drupalcamplagos.com into their browser's address bar, will be redirected to 2011.drupalcamplagos.com (this year & till when next year's website is ready to roll).

drupal camp 2011
Hello Everyone
Last year I we planned a Drupal7 Launch meet-up in Lagos. I asked for RSVPs, but someone said I shouldn't bother, than within the days leading up to the event, I would get responses, quite a number agreed. To cut the long story short, having committed some cash, it flopped. Only one RSVP, even on that evening.
Why I'm bringing it up? A new program coming up. How committed are we? Who actually is committed? Who and who are in charge of planning? Who is "responsible for what? These things are basic tenets of planning, and a lack of planning leads to...
How do we move forward on this?

We've not been able to get
We've not been able to get drupal.org.ng from the domain registrar due to conflict of interest. We will be using drupalng.org temporarily.
Like I mentioned, can we get design mockups for the site and some volunteer implementers? If you want to contribute design time, please comment below. If you want to help in putting the site content together, please comment below.
The code is on Google code at http://code.google.com/p/drupalcamplagos. We can fork to a git repository for convenience. We will need maintainers as well.

The site is up again at http://drupalng.org/. The community site is also up at http://community.drupalng.org/.
You can get started with the wireframe so the community can review. Meanwhile, I will fork the repo to git for the developers and themers.
Awaiting more content and theme volunteers.

my thots was to have a dedicated site for
my thots was to have the website for drupal association nigeria / user group nigeria ... (or whatever we end up calling it ) ...
that way we have like events page section for yearly event in various states ... one point stop for every thing goinog on in drupla community in nigeria ... having 2011.drupalcamplagos means we would still have to build up something for that purpose eventually
Keeping things seperate
Let's have a Drupal Nigeria website. Even if it is just 1 or 2 pages. We now have http://drupalng.org & that is fine.
Let DrupalCamp Lagos have it's own website. We can:
Visit http://drupalcampla.com (it redirects you to http://2011.drupalcampla.com)
Visit http://2010.drupalcampla.com (still available)
Visit http://2009.drupalcampla.com (still available)
This is actually easier done than said.

Hi, First of all you need to
Hi,
First of all you need to let people know exactly what you need. I won't deceive you and tell you learning Drupal is easy but if you are able to overcome the learning curve you will never think the same way again. I'd advise that you learn cck, views and taxonomy; there's a lot of material on the internet and in the drupal forums. You can also view the video podcasts at www.mustardseedmedia.com they helped me a lot. Enjoy the best ride of your life
Thanks alot.
the person who introduced me to drupal gave me some materials to study and i have done that..i need to know i to build a favicon for my website and how to transfer my website from the localhost to my web server
Here
Hello,
David Saruto has actually done a whole lot of work by on his Drupal blog, Learn by the drop. To move your website from a localhost to your web server, I would advise you take a look at one of his drops at http://learnbythedrop.com/drop/132
I'm sure you'll find it quite useful
Where do we start?
I'm still in the opinion of organizing all contributors (developers, content creator, designers etc) to work on a collaboration platform. If drupalng.com will be a temporary place to start with, i suggest a sub domain be created and provided for the installation of a drupal collaboration tool like open Atrium(http://openatrium.com/download)

Hello everyone, I've been following this topic quietly. IMHO, I think that maybe we should focus more on the actual drupalcamp event before we start work on the website and sort out key things like
Sponsorship may be difficult as November is right around the corner, so we may have to make small contributions instead. Once we have a clearer view and agenda, a website can easily be built.

@YSolution I think your input
@YSolution
I think your input is a good candidate for content development. Is this something you will want to do for the community. I'm pretty sure core developers wouldn't like to take on such responsibility.

The Nigerian community is buzzing!
Hi all
wonderful that the Nigerian community is buzzing!
Having organized a few Drupal events in the past, I'd just like to advise you guys to put the camp at a later date.
In my experience sponsors like/need at least 2 months of lead time. If you're looking at larger sponsors like Google you're going to be looking at 3 to 6 months.
You'll also need time to get the venue and logistics going as well as get marketing in business and academic circles going.
By all means, do start drafting the site right now, but like Ysolutions said, but don't lose track of the actual meat and bones of what you're trying to do: build an event.
I'd be happy to assist any way I can. Let me know if theres anything I can do.
J.

t: @charyorde
the idea is to do a small event
I think the idea is to do a small event this year ... we can then use this as a platform to plan something much bigger for next year ...
First of all having a site
First of all having a site seems like a good idea if we can settle the details. I'd be interested in theming such a site and I honestly won't mind if pyel or the designer could contact me. That being said what exactly are we trying to achieve with this year's drupal camp. I think we should relegate getting sponsors to the background until we have a clear idea of what we want to do. I also think we should try and fund this camp ourselves. Folks should be willing to come and share in their own area of expertise and we should just generally get to know one another. We dont have to be many, 20 people in a seminar room is enough for this camp. Let's just take it that we're starting afresh. Whatever we do at this Drupal Camp should be well documented and publicized on the internet so that the general Drupal Community knows what we're up to and so that we can leave a footprint to take to sponsors later. The registration is not a bad idea as long as at the end of the day, we dont start fighting later over who gets what. If there is going to be an association the rules have to be very clear and we all have to agree before registering. That's my two kobo!
+1 date change or small meet.
I think I'm buying the idea of a date change.
Thinking at least the 6 months suggested, plus an extra month for planning and prep.
We can though have a smaller event. Maybe 50 people, pick a day, presentations, etc and a barbecue or snack feast after. Then plan for a bigger event with sponsorship etc for next year.
We can't do a 1-day geek meetup in 6 weeks???
-1,001 vote for postponement.
Here's what I (and many of the rest of us will do): Forget about DrupalCamp Lagos & Drupal Nigeria until it is 1 week to the event sometime next year!!! Nothing gets done until the last minute.
Are we organizing DrupalCon Africa that we need 6 months!?!
Please small(er) event, Last Friday/Saturday in November. We do a countdown. 2 or 3 guys build the site. Others comment.
For agenda, we do a "Copy and Paste" then "Delete" for other DrupalCons, DrupalCamps, DoItWithDrupals etc.
I have built sites that are getting 10k+ hits a day & I don't as of yet use Git, Drush, SSH or any advanced stuff. Even the "theming" is plain old CSS, almost little or no template.php & only 1 or 2 tpl.php files. Agreed, this isn't the most efficient way to do Drupal but please let's not make this more complicated than it really is.
Simplicity and Productivity...

The plan has always been a small meet-up
The plan has always been for a small meet up o!
target audience 50 - 100 people (various levels of expertise)
Date has been picked - November 26th 4 - 7pm ... saturday so that people that work can make it .... main event in the evening so that people that have weddings can still come ....
extras - maybe a free introducing drupal class for beginners from 12 - 4pm ...
venue - definitely lagos ... maybe CChub , I will be meeting with them this week . if not we will rent a 15k venue somewhere in Lagos .< any ideas, anyone ? >
agenda -
get a couple of 15mins presentations from experts / intermediate,
lots of opportunities for discussions ...
talk about having a more active nigerian community
people showcase what they have been up to
any thing else that is appropriate
As soon as last year's site is up , we will just copy/paste , delete and add to have something that points to this year.
i will create eventbrite listing later on
No elaborate sponsorship ,
we will need a bit of hype in developer community
This thing is that simple . NO need for too much complications ... and No to postponement ...
ps: We can then use this platform to plan a bigger event for next year
Too Much Talk
The problem with this community.
I have single handedly arranged DrupalCamp for three years without any help except for last year when drcute came on. Why would more than 8 guys not be able to pull this off. The plan for next year is already underway. The reason I didn't work on it this year was because of other major commitment. Sponsors have also shown interest.
If you want something get done, give out the task with a deadline, that way people would show a level of commitment and talking would not get nobody anywhere rather than action. If you can do something, just start it and put it up, that would motivate others to want to do something also
So, we will leave this open
So, we will leave this open for the rest of the day to have more votes after which we'll decide based on the results.
Pyel, how's the wireframe coming?
t: @charyorde
What are we leaving 'open for the rest of the day'?
DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 holds on November 26th, 2011. Time 4 - 7pm. Venue (To Be Determined). Agenda, Sessions, Content (To Be Determined - Everyone is free to volunteer & contribute).
I have registered the domain drupalcamplagos.com. More information on this later for anyone who may be interested. PLEASE, we do NOT have to use this for the upcoming event, but I strongly advocate that we do.
Let's continue getting things DONE.
Else we find ourselves in a state of ANALYSIS PARALYSIS (as pointed out by @murpheus - "Too Much Talk"!!!)

thanks for the domain
The event is definitely holding this year. No postponement. Some consider it a pre-camp , some a drupal meet-up ... for me its a gathering of drupal people in Lagos (/Nigeria) ...we will use the platform to plan bigger events ...

We will resolve what the flagship domain name will be before the end of the week . Everyone your opinion please ...
please for now point the domain name drupalcamplagos.com to the nameservers for drupalng.org
@drecute will add the domain to the existing ones on the hosting as an addon domain .
@mysterioux is modifying the site to reflect the november event . the sneak peek url is drupalng.org/index.php .
All information about 2010 event will be moved under a menu PAST EVENTS -> drupal camp 2010 .
Ok @everyone few other things :
Pls, I need some one who can do a 2 - 3 page document on the event . Anyone have about an hour to spare ... just make a draft document on google docs , people will be able to modify .
Also , we are trying to decide if we should use the website registration or eventbrite , or both ?
Nameservers and/or IP address for drupalng.org
Please what are the nameservers and/or IP address for drupalng.org for configuring NS and/or A records for drupalcamplagos.com?

Just contribute and lets get a meeting up and running and then it will enable us to plan for a bigger event next year.
"As long as its a technology, it can be developed"
Exactly how many domains have
Exactly how many domains have been registered because it's becoming confusing. I think we should stick to Drupal for the event registration because it just seems right. Using eventbrite for something Drupal can do does not seem kosher.
Too many domains?
http://drupalng.org - is what we are working with now for the Drupal Nigeria community.
http://drupalcamplagos.com - I proposed we use this for DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 (an event that should occur annually). @badesemewo has suggested that we redirect this to http://drupalng.org. I don't totally agree but I will comply without hesitation.
http://drupalnigeria.org - registered to @murpheus. If I'm not mistaken this was in use last year & should also be redirected to http://drupalng.org. I'm sure @murpheus won't have any issues doing this. (By the way I personally dislike domains appended with 'ng' e.g. drupalng.org). Since drupalnigeria.org is taken (courtesy @murpheus) why not drupalnigeria.org.ng or drupalnigeria.com.ng which are both available right now? Domain names should make as much sense as possible, in my humble opinion.
Multiple domains is NOT a bad thing. Multiple websites is - especially when they are not maintained & updated. Multiple domains is good for SEO purposes. Ultimately, we want people to find us don't we?
I am proposing that we also try to harmonize all these domain name registrations & "Drupal Nigeria" websites as part of the agenda for DrupalCamp Lagos 2011. Probably put some structure/organization around our activities - very much like the Drupal Association.
@murpheus & @drecute: Which one come be http://lanyrd.com/2011/drupalcamplagos/?

+1 for using
+1 for using drupalnigeria.org as the domain. It sounds a lot more authentic and please bear in mind that whatever we do now is laying the foundation for the Drupal Community in Nigeria as a whole which is growing but most dont know the community exists. I would also like to propose a community project that we can chip-in to benefit other Nigerians eg a payment gateway module to connect ecommerce and ubercart to interswitch or something that will benefit us all and encourage more people to come in. The key thing here is unity of purpose and community. There are more than enough clients to go round.
Not because I work here...
We should consider integrating Drupal, eCommerce & Ubercart with Paga (http://mypaga.com). There are some truly interesting developments coming up in the next few weeks for developers & indeed all Nigerians/Africans on Paga's merchant services product.

Roadmap drupalcamp lagos Nigeria
Thanks for the response @chillpill. First of all I see that the drupalng.org and the drupalcamplagos.com sites are down.
We need all interested participants to actually signup on the site, so we can know the present location of all interested participants, whether they have plans for accomodation and if not we can do the neccessary logistics.
Therefore I suggest we should discuss on any or all of these issues
Themeing drupal - this is because an overwhelming number of worpress sites generally look better than drupal counterparts, unless extra measures are taken to enhance the end user experience.
Module developement - we no doubt have a lot of people who may be able to install drupal and use some of the contributed modules effectively, but I suggest that the drupal nigeria community should grow its pool of advanced drupal developers that can really create custom applications to suit the nigerian enviromnent, market and browsing need or patterns of the nigerian.
Also we then can be able to contribute to drupal which has made life a joy for many of us, not to mention put money in our wallets.
creating or developing RESTful web applications. - this i recommend so that we can tap into the power and opportunities that mobile applications present to the nigerian developer , considering the vast number
Of mobile users in the Nigerian market alone.
I believe so much in drupal, and I believe so much in the power of team work. We need more people knowing about these things so that we can grow and creativity can flow.
( Please note that I am not conversant with web services using drupal or any other so volunteers wanted )
3 . I advocate that aside from the site (official site for drupal camp lagos or wherever locality), that we agree on a blackberry group so that we can disscuss issues in realtime. Then conclusions can be posted to related sited by designated moderators or administrators.
This way we can have nunmerous drupal camps online.
My respects to everyone who has contributed to far and have made this possible to this point.
Please someone post a site that works that we can use for this event ( site should have drupal installed)
I am willing to develop the site with this event in mind.
I will require a the names of interested developers and contributors that can be there all the time to brainstorm on isuues that may arise.
I have created a blackberry group that will service this event and post its pin
Interested contributors to this event should contact me by sending their pins to 08130968429 and I'll send invitation. If there is another preexisting group to this effect, please notify me so that I can request an invitation.
Any other thing I have overlooked please bring to my attention and contribute meaningfully.
Looking forward to hear from chillpill.
Nice one @dr-wanni
Nice contribution in my opinion. I guess we should allow at least a day for other group members to comment & contribute.
However, there is the possibility that we will have absolute newbies to Drupal. As such we should also include a session for "Getting started with Drupal".
I have been waiting for @drecute to provide the DNS information for http://drupalng.org. (For some reason, I couldn't get it off http://nwtools.com). I guess -'ll go ahead and put something up on http://drupalcamplagos.com (http://2011.drupalcamplagos.com) & provide whoever is interested with necessary privileges to modify the site. @murpheus provided some proposed content, and your contribution will also be very useful. I buy your idea of immediately providing a registration facility for interested participants.
I am not aware of any BB group in existence so I'll send you my PIN for an invite.
Once again, nice one.

Aim of the camp
Hello everyone,
It has been front and back discussion on who does what and why; what are the objectives of the camp, etc. please note that the camp is not for anyone self interest rather the interest of drupal developer as well as expand drupal user within the country. kindly view this link "https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yfX4JinoeYlAlFKDj8kQSiihxvFN1CgJJPwI0PZx-_0/edit?hl=en_GB" for some clarification. Also, if there are other things you think that are omitted which might be valuable please feel free to add to it.
Thanks
Imasuen Israel.
Kudos guys
It's great to see that Drupal is beginning to get the right visibility in Nigeria.
Though I won't be able to attend, I wish you guys a successful event.

Hi all, Wow, I had no idea
Hi all,
Wow, I had no idea all this was going on, which makes me wonder, how exactly are other Drupallers in Nigeria being reached out to?
To give some statistics: Drupal has 3,872 registered Drupallers who live in Nigeria, out of which only 55 are members of the Drupal Nigeria group.
The educative side of Drupal is very important but so is the social. I think we need more social and informal events for Drupallers in Nigeria before we have a sure footing for other more formal and educative events. Firstly because people are more likely to attend a social event as they'll be less uptight. Secondly, it's easier to have serious talks after you've met in more relaxed circumstances. How many of us on here have met each other face-to-face?
I set up a facebook page sometime ago, please join: http://www.facebook.com/DrupalNigeria
Cheers!

Great!!!
@Chillpill, This is good. I did send some sponsorship link to badesemowo and do hope he and his team at Bincom have done something about it. By the way, I have direct contact to the Program Manager, Google Africa. I will send her an email if it's possible to get some sponsorship as we have always gotten from them.
CcHub Nigeria willing to reserve venue
CcHub Nigeria has agreed to reserve their space for DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 on November 26, 2011.
Guys (& girls) we need to put our heads & resources together, to make this event happen. @badesemewo, @Imasuen & I (@chillpill) were at The Hub on Friday & we discussed at length on how we can all benefit from the facilities & opportunities at the Hub.
The fee for the venue will be =N=55,000 (approx. $350) for a 4-hour period (see comments above for the facilities that will be available to us http://groups.drupal.org/node/180794#comment-610569).
We also estimate that we will need another =N=25,000 (approx. $160) to lightly refresh about 100 attendees.
Sponsors home and abroad, near and from afar are welcome to help with footing this bill.
Also if there are contacts we can approach individually & collectively, please do so for the community.
Thanks.
Please comments, contributions and criticisms are welcome.

Sponsorship Requests
@Chillpill great work. Just so that you know, I have sent out a number of sponsorship request to some companies I believe would be interested in sponsoring this event and do hope to get feedback by next week. I hope we get the sponsorship
Sponsoring
Great work guys.

To the House
Which of the domain is functioning and the approved because i've been having a tough time with drupalng.org?
"As long as its a technology, it can be developed"
Which domain...?
@mysterioux: Sincerely speaking, the domain is not our biggest problem right now. I have had issues (and I am still having issues at the time of posting this) with http://drupalng.org. However, that doesn't stop us from going ahead with Session planning, Sourcing sponsors, Brainstorming, Contributing ideas etc.
What exactly do you want to do on the domain (website) right now? You can head out to http://2011.drupalcamplagos.com to register your name, details etc. There isn't much going on there right now, but if you wish to contribute to the site design, theming, administration etc. send me a private message. I still strongly believe that the DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 site should be separate from the overall Drupal Nigeria site; and rather than drupalng.org, we should use http://drupalnigeria.org which is currently under @murpheus custody.
Nonetheless, these domain issues can (will) be sorted out very, very soon and as such we shouldn't make a big deal about them.
Let us contribute, Contribute and CONTRIBUTE!!!

Budget has been put together base on the last meeting held with Cchub and we are looking out for sponsors to make the event a success. kindly view the update via this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yfX4JinoeYlAlFKDj8kQSiihxvFN1CgJJPwI...

DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 Updates
@Imasuen: Kudos for putting the document together. (There are a couple of typos that need to be corrected though)
On Monday 24 October, at Mobile Monday Nigeria, I had the opportunity of mentioning, as well as discussing DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 to Nigerian staff/representatives of Nokia, Google and Opera. The responses I got were quite positive and so far as we keep our plans decent and reasonable, I see us getting support from these organizations.
The activity on this group has not been too encouraging I must say. I want to believe we are all working hard 'behind the scenes'.
@murpheus, @drecute, @mysterioux, @badesemowo: What's up?

It's great managerial work

Next Update
Nice @chillpill
Its good to know that some follow up are been done. I've been quite silence a bit in the community as work is been down at the backend. However, we should understand how contributions could be made in respect to the event and with the future of Drupal Nigeria as well after the event.
I am must concern with skill level set around Drupal Nigeria. We need to know who is who and who knows what so as to form sub-groups that will enhance the general overview of the group.
I hope to meet you guys at the Drupal Camp Lagos on the 29th of NOVEMBER. Let me know if any Newbies needs resources to kick off...
Yours truly....love for Drupal

November 26th
@mysterioux: The proposed date for DrupalCamp Lagos is November 26th 2011. As for the skill level of Drupal Nigeria community members, I guess this is an issue we can address amongst ourselves during the event. Feel free to bring along your newbie resources. I believe there will be people who will find them useful.

We are looking at doing a beginners training from 12am - 4pm before starting the main event . Though we need to confirm this with the venue . You may be able to feature for that ?
Yes , we a re designing this edition to fit all skill levels .
Counting down
Just two weeks to Drupal camp in Lagos. Are you ready!!!
Do you have something in mind you will love to see or hear on that day? What are your expectation for this season camp?
Feel free to share your opinion and expectation.
Great
Kudos to you guys for organizing this type of boot camp. I stumble on Drupal a couple of months ago and I joined this group this week. I received a mail from this group informing me of a Drupal camp in Lagos. Please how do I register? and what is the address of the venue?
@murpheus and mysterioux you have done much. More grease to your joints.
Kudos to IMASUEN
Lets give a standing ovation to Imasuen for doing a nice follow up of the group.
Its obvious core members of this group are kind of busy with projects, developments, money pursuit and even religious stuff (if i might add that).
All the same, there's something i couldn't get hold not up-till 3days ago. (Is 2011.drupalcamplagos.com) the official domain name? If yes, then let the house be put in order to enable guys (register) for the event.
Some of the developers in-house of this group could help. Who ever is the administrator should make available privileges for developers and theme designers to SPICE UP the site.
Let's blow the trumpet of the date aloud and post fliers, logo, tips etc on our Facebook wall page (who doesn't have a Facebook these days?)
"As long as its a technology, it can be developed"
2011.drupalcamplagos.com for DrupalCamp Lagos 2011
@mysterioux: Yeah, thumbs up to @Imasuen. The active (not necessarily 'official') website for the event is DrupalCamp Lagos 2011. There is also a 'staging' site you can play around with http://dev2011.drupalcamplagos.com. Hit me up with a private message - aniediudo [at] gmail [dot] com for admin credentials. The site is currently using the default theme Fusion Swimmingly that comes with the Conference Organizing Distribution.
You could send me a background image (PSD, PNG or JPG) such as http://fall2011.drupalcamp.se/profiles/drupalse/themes/drupalcamp/images... which was used for DrupalCamp Stockholm Fall 2011 last weekend. I'll also attempt to make some design & CSS changes by tomorrow.
Expecting to hear from you (& others) soon.

5 days to DrupalCamp Lagos 2011
Hi All,
We have covered considerable grounds on this event. The event will surely hold on the 26th of November 2011 @ Co-Creation Hub Nigeria, Sabo, Yaba from 3pm - 7pm. We are also working to ensure that we have access to the facility even before that to be able conduct introductory training for newbies to Drupal.
The Lagos GTUG (Google Technology User Group) have identified with us and have been able to attract sponsorship from Google Nigeria for the event.
As of today, Microsoft Nigeria has also shown interest to support the event though we have given them extremely short notice.
We are budgeting for 100 attendees so kindly head out to http://2011.drupalcamplagos.com/user/register & sign up for the Event "DrupalCamp Lagos 2011".
We are still soliciting for sponsors, session proposals, presentations and above all, your resources & of course your presence.
For your tweets to appear on the website, use the hashtag #drupalcamplagos. Please re-tweet, publicize the event on Facebook, as well as identify with the Facebook Event
Hoping to see as many of us as possible on Saturday.
The schedule for DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 has not yet been decided. Being a rather impromptu & resource-constrained event, this entire meetup is planned to last for 4 hours, from 3 - 7pm, on Saturday November 26, 2011.
Sessions of between 15 - 45 minutes spanning "Beginner" & "Intermediate" tracks are being proposed:
Keynote Address: Growing Nigeria's Open Source Community
Drupal & Google: Playing nicely together
Getting started with Drupal
Q & A Session 1
Networking & Light Refreshment
Drupal & Microsoft: Setting up your development environment
Getting up fast & running with Drupal distributions
Theming Drupal with just (only) CSS
Q & A Session 2

ckeditor
I am just beginning to learn drupal and have installed the ckeditor module, ckfinder. I think I configured it correctly because it worked fine after I installed it. The problem I have now is that the upload image button no longer appears when I want to upload images. Can anyone tell me what to do? how do i also get the ckeditor license.
Another thread
Hi @salgrace: Kindly post your request to the CKEditor issue queue or start another topic if you need a Nigerian Drupaler to help you out. This thread is for the upcoming DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 coming up on Saturday 26 November, 2011.

i am loving this more and
i am loving this more and more
Its quite a shame that
Its quite a shame that Microsoft (a windows based company) could support when companies like "MTN" are having it hard to support...Where are my Linux Companies ? I know for sure that @Acquia wouldn't fail me.
I move the motion that after the camp, lets do an online protest to company using OPEN SOURCE and not giving back to the community via either contribution, donation or support.
All in favor say "GO DRUPAL"
@mysterioux
"As long as its a technology, it can be developed"
Mysterioux, dont forget
Mysterioux, dont forget drupal is not the only Open Source platform around. Some of the COY's might be giving to some other associate platforms or some other systems in one form or the other. You can only solicit, PROTEST in my opinion isn't on the open source manual.
??? not like that
Don't get me wrong, a lot of folks out there is doing great jobs supporting other open source product. But when you are using a particular technology publicly and you are not supporting it even when an official letter was sent to you and yet you are still using there product, I don't think that's community in a sense.
Protesting was what made Unix Founder Richard Stallman get the Unix system out in the open...so if Protest is a neg word (pardon me for it use). But looking at what other companies are doing Bincom, Google, Microsoft and others I can boldly say.... "MTN fail my hand".
But in the spirit of community.....
I rest my case on that..(maybe this will be a good discussion at the event (talk sessions))....hoping to meet you at the event DrupalCamp Lagos 2011 and discuss further on the possibilities of introducing, educating and possibly enhancing the general corporate organization on the power and benefits of Drupal.
code name still remains
@mysterioux
And I'm proud to be a Drupalist
"As long as its a technology, it can be developed"
Quite towards the Date?
Its not possible...we are quite or maybe too excited to know the state of things

-Users confirmed
-Direction to venue fixed (check google map -) http://g.co/maps/6te3p
-Training for newbies guaranteed
-Lots of hook ups and exchange of complementary cards (goosh i forgot about that)
and yes LOTS OF GOODIES AND WOODIES
Also, a vote of thanks from Sponsors rep.
And group photograph (come with your high end phones e.g. Samsung Galaxy s II - now that's a machine)
and a chance to shake some hands...
What else am I missing...for the singles like me (lets pray the sisters make it there ..."na joke o!")
1 Day can do a lot ..so for the beginners come with your pen and papers, open mind and alot of inquisitive questions
developers come with your sense of community
others come with some form of ideas on DRUPAL ASSOCIATION NIGERIA, DRUPALICON NIGERIA (2012)
I remain yours ever,
