Is there anyone else in Christchurch or Canterbury who'd be keen to make Chch's first drupal meetup? How about at some bar on the strip this on Friday December 1. Any other suggestions?
We are moving to NZ for 9 months or so starting Nov 30 :) We'll be living in Nelson for the next 6 months and then ...
Would be great to hook up with some other Drupal/CiviCRM developers. I'm the lead developer and co-founder of the CiviCRM project (http://civicrm.org/)

Great to hear about your impending arrival, Donald. It'll be great to have you in the local community (I'd consider Nelson local) - look forward to meeting you (we've been eyeing CiviCRM for quite some time - will have to give it a proper test between now and next week!).
i'm sorry that i did not respond, since i did not bother checking back on the comments. We are settling in quite nicely and are getting used to the place. The kids are quite happy since they can play and visit the pool on a daily basis :) more details at: http://lobostravel.blogspot.com/
Dave, would love to meet and chat. DMan, sorry i missed you, please ping me when u r back in Nelson. For future reference, u can send me email at lobo at yahoo dot com
I'm in Nelson this weekend, hope you are settling in OK.
I've been doing lots of biggish Drupal stuff in Wellington, I'd be interested in having a chat about your contributions some time. The CivicCRM project was most impressive, and I have taken some inspiration from it (for my relationships work), but never used it in anger.

We Effusion Group folk (Jonathan, Marek (vshivak), and others with less Drupal involvement but interesting nonetheless) have a perpetual booking at the Twisted Hop on Friday evenings from 5pm (aka beer o'clock) - look for the table - I look forward to meeting the rest of you!
That sounds good. Do you guys wanna meet at 5pm then? or at 6pm, so that you can keep your internal drinking seperate from your drupal drinking...??? He he!!
My office does the same thing but we usually go to a different place every week. We're not strict/regular about it, and I'm the only drupaler in our office. Basically I don't mind missing our weekly piss up for the drupal one if we do it at five. I think I'm rambling...

Not there yet, but coming soon ...

Double post :(
SMS me at 021 169 2879 if you're in Nelson town for a beer this weekend
Signed up, and location suggestion...
Hey!
nice to see there are people in CHCH using Drupal :)
I am definitely coming to the meet up.
I personally don't go to the bars on strip, but alright. We'll see how many people sign up and probably decide on the location later on...
If I may suggest, what about pubs on the Poplar lane? Like Twisted Hop, Red Jacks (they have very nice happy hour on Fridays ;-) ), etc?
--vsh
I only suggested the strip
I only suggested the strip for lack of knowledge of a better place ( I'm new to Christchurch ). Where's Poplar lane? That sounds good.
Poplar Street,
here's the map: http://zoomin.co.nz/nz/christchurch/christchurch+central/poplar+street/

I'm keen, +1 for the Twisted Hop
We are usually there anyway on a Friday after work, so it will save shifting tables :-)
Thanks for getting the ball rolling Bevan; it will be good to catch up with other Drupalisers in Chch...
Drupal @ the Twisted Hop?

BTW, am I the only non-effusion-group drupaler in chch? (No problem with effusion, just curious)
So we on for Friday then?
So we on for Friday then?
yup
just a few hours to go ... :)
I'll be at the Twisted Hop from 5:30pm onwards. See you there!
bevan - just ask, or look for the Effusion table (as dlane already mentioned)
Great! Thanks
