Let's help get Drupal for Facebook module to 6.0 (including fbconnect) !

If you'd like to see drupal for facebook in drupal 6, including some of the nice features that go with it, check out Dave Cohen's call to arms for help, both financial and coding to get it done by drupalcon DC.

Dave Cohen and I have been discussing the funding of "Allow User Name and Login Name to be different" at:

I started posting comments to Dave Cohen's blog but now seem to be locked out with many errors. Besides which I reckon the audience is greater here and I can reduce the number of sites I have to keep track of - so I'm posting here...

My answer, though, is I have no trick up my sleeve. I see this as the kind of change that takes some time to develop a patch, then even more to convince the community that it's worthwhile. If funded, I'd develop a patch, submit it, and hope it gets adopted. If it does, great. If it doesn't, at least the patch will be there for users of Drupal for Facebook.

This is a big issue with Drupal. There are already a number of patches aiming for inclusion in D7 that would facilitate the creation of modules to provide this functionality. I'm not sure of the exact status.

Patching core seems ugly to me to be honest. Surely, the best solution would be to create a module that did this? What about supporting:
