I had everything together so I could come to this, and then had an important event I need to attend conflict with this. I still have a few things I'd really like to contribute to this though, how best could I go about doing that?
Specifically I have some thoughts on our best approach to a core theme to build the new redesign upon. Please let me know.

We could certainly find a loot of people to help out in Paris
But, could you please tell us a little more about the set of skills needed for this part of the project ?
I know already one French (a graphic designer) who was told to come but don't know from which day to which day :(
We don't know what sort of skills in needed at this step of the redesign.
My self I'm doing the gathering of promise of sponsorship for the community in France, so I know quite a loot of Drupal people in France even French speaking Swiss (for online participation that's mean)...
The Drupal Parisian scene is vibrant and the word of mouth is powerful... is not what Drupal help out to do online?
My two cent I think you could give more insight in the project like doing screen cast to have people involved worldwide and even locally. Some Ustream broadcast would help having some buzz and get more fund...
