Multiple Indian drupal community sites effects and concerns

hi all,

One of the important things we discussed at drupal camp india (Pune edition) was to identify ONE "accepted" drupal site for indian community. This may sound undemocratic on the surface but the problem creeps in when we talk about:

1>the usage of site, which of the site should I share my regional drupal experiences?
2> Which site to look for when we talk about drupal sites built in india.
3> which site should I enter my location data (kevin's idea of map ui).
4> We need a site for collaborating on "indic" ideas, If I wish to build a site for some NGO or for a cause I would like to collaborate with fellow indian drupal developers. (Yes, we can do that here as well but I still find groups limited in terms of one-on-one communication)
5> Add more..

I can identify atleast 3 sites which "claim" to be indian drupal community site:

1> drupal.in
2> drupalindia.in
3> edrupal.com
4> Add more, if u know any?

I still feel the need of one accepted "domain" and then other sites can peacefully co-exist. I just need to know where to put my experiences and where will I find maximum indian drupal developers. To identify that site/domain we would need to ask some management questions:

1> Flexibility to manage the site (open webadmin team)
2> FTP/DB access (again open for taking up responsibility based on previous karma and enthusiasm)
3> Add more..

What do u guys think? Its a wiki page so please feel free to add the points. Otherwise comment :)

Amit => according to me we should use the groups.drupal.org/india mailing list. As this would be the starting point in most cases.

Prasad Shir => I also feel that we should very actively use & promote this group ( groups.drupal.org/india). As we have seen the active interaction has started recently on this group. We just have a member base of 182 (as on 17 Feb 09). We need to have decent member base & active quality interaction at this place. Whatever new feature requests we feel we need, must have been faced by other groups on this site as well! So eventually these will be available on the site!!
