Sprint

Join us at DrupalCon Denver to sprint on Drupal distributions and the tools used to build them, such as Drush and Drush make.

Update: See (and add to) the wiki page on how to help at the distro sprint.

This sprint is an opportunity for anyone involved in a Drupal distribution to do work on that distribution such as filing patches or working on UX enhancements or documentation.

If you're planning to attend, feel free to leave a comment stating which distribution(s) you plan to work on!

Commons, COD, Drush make

ezra-g's picture

I'll be there and plan to work on Commons, COD and possibly also Drush make!

Whatever needs doing, doc-wise and organizationally

Hey, Ezra -- thanks for organizing this! I don't feel that I can commit absolutely to it until I know DC's entire schedule, but consider this a tentative "yes".

Ezra,

Thanks for organizing this. We will have some people there from LevelTen to work on Open Enterprise. Hopefully it will be pretty much done by DC but we can always add more and it will be great to share ideas with other distro devs.

All the best,

Tom

Open Enterprise D7 ?

niccolox's picture

was looking at Open Enterprise again last night and wondering about D7 ? any news ?

D7 Open Enterprise is in beta

TomDude48's picture

The D7 version of Open Enterprise is available. We restructured the whole things around apps. We only have a handful of apps available right now and are working on rolling out more.

Would love any feedback you have.

COD, Open Atrium, Open Public

dboeger's picture

Not new to Drupal, but new to distributions. I'm using COD for my organization's Science Conference and we plan on using Open Atrium as our intranet down the road. I'm just learning the Drupal Dev ropes (Site Builder and Themer), but willing to contribute however I can (testing, documentation, design, etc). Thanks for organizing this.

COD Sprint SandCamp >> COD Sprint DrupalCon Denver

Ezra,

Looking forward to more sprinting at DrupalCon. I spent some more time trying to get Git+Drush+Drush_make working, hopefully will get it fine-tuned by the time we have the "virtual sprint". Thanks again for all of your help.

Commons and Denver FTW

I'll be at DrupalCon and I desperately need commons on D7. I'm not much of a coder, but I can document and I'm a genius at breaking stuff.

Drupal Commons move to D7

dougvann's picture

5wks ago I attended the 1st ever Drupal Distribution summit which was held in San Diego 2days before their SandCamp.
We had a few Acquia ppl in the room and it was stated that moving Commons to D7 was very important to them.
I'm trying to recall the exact phrasing that was used, but something like, "...by summer" seems to ring a bell.
It would be awesome if a code sprint would bring it even earlier! ;-)
I'll hunt down who was there and invite them to respond to this thread.

Been waiting since LAST summer!

crimsondryad's picture

Doug,
Yes, I'm being a whiner. :) We had plans to move our intranet last summer and were too swamped. The powers that be have finally allowed me to staff up, so the first opportunity that hits I'm gonna convert from our icky and archaic OpenCMS install.

I scheduled my flight to go out Friday night, so my plan is to hit the code sprint. My husband Tom has been looking for "real" projects to learn more about Drupal with, I was poking him this morning about running some of those D6 modules through coder at least to get them started. I wish I had more time to get my hands on some code, it's been too long. But like I said...I'm definitely capable of writing docs and breaking stuff ( the pc term for that is QA...lol ).

I assume you're going to Denver, are you going to be there Monday? We will land around 9am...have all day to find something interesting to do.

pretty booked

dougvann's picture

I get there 2:30 Sunday
I have a Pre-Con training on Monday. It's unclear if I'll be helping some one with their session OR attending another one for my own benefit.

That's all I know about Monday. I haven't figured out what's going down Monday night.

Commons on D7

Daniel F. Lestón's picture

Did you get any traction on this?
Any progress moving commons into D7?

I would also like to have commons fully migrated into D7.

Thanks a lot

I'll be there. Not quite sure

Grayside's picture

I'll be there. Not quite sure what I'll work on. Maybe someone will come up with some ideas ;)

My selfish idea comes from

greggles's picture

My selfish idea comes from this commons make file which has patches to apply to OG.

That might provide a battle plan for you on the sprint day.

Totally missed this! That

Grayside's picture

Totally missed this! That said, the next release of OG will include fixes for http://drupal.org/node/1051258 and http://drupal.org/node/793588.

I'll see about finding time for http://drupal.org/node/1128492 since Commons needs it.

http://drupal.org/node/835030 will need review by the community. I'm not using OG Notifications and don't have time to play with it unless I'm desperate for distractions :)

I wish I could attend this...

Is there a way to join this sprint by virtual means such as Skype or IRC? A sound relay would be great! My personal interest lies in finding ways to 'Internationalize' profiles & distros.

Readiness

oadaeh's picture

While I am going to be at the Distribution Sprint, I have some apprehension about my productivity. In the past sprints I have attended, I have been frustrated by my own lack of progress due to the lack of knowledge (understanding what the goals were and how to reach them) or my own readiness before the event.

A lack of knowledge about what is to be accomplished and how to accomplish it delays getting started, and a lack of preparedness can totally stop work (for situations like a lack of Internet access).

I feel I can be more productive if I have a general idea of what we (I) will be working on (by reading certain documentation in advance), and if I can have my system already set up to go in advance (at least required software downloaded, but preferably also installed and ready to go).

I understand that part of this process is a, "let's get together, talk through what we're going to do, and decide at that time where we are going," but if there is any advice on what to have in place and to what point to be set up, that would help me immensely on feeling and being productive at the event.

Thanks.

Hi @oadaeh, Thanks for

ezra-g's picture

Hi @oadaeh,

Thanks for expressing your concern here - I'll be making a list of "ways to get involved" for Commons and COD - If other distribution maintainers do the same thing we can include them in a central wiki for the sprint.

We'll also have nightly dev snapshots of Commons and COD for Drupal 7, and possibly other distributions.

Of course, I and others will be present to help out.

Feel free to reach me in #drupal-cod or #drupal-commons if you'd like to discuss further, and thanks for coming to the sprint!
