Who's going to DrupalCon Denver?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Anyone going to DrupalCon Denver? I'm researching flights, hotels, etc. The flight is pretty cheap (Southwest from San Jose to Denver is ~$265 if flying out on weekday and back on weekend). Hotels vary widely: cheapie with shuttle to downtown is ~$70 or expensive one across the street from venue is $179!

I have my plane ticket but have not yet looked at hotels. Anyone else? It would be fun to plan this together. Mary Edith

Actually, I think I might be

Actually, I think I might be able to go! I had just assumed I wouldn't go, but with a shared room it is actually doable. I haven't booked a flight yet or anything.

Yep

Woo hoo! I'm scheduled to attend. I don't get to choose the hotel, though... my employer will be doing that.

Looks like I can go also.

Looks like I can go also. Expedia says a room that's walkable (looks like 6 blocks) and a United flight from SJC are about $640 as a package + the taxi ride back and forth to the airport, so <$700. I'm looking at flying Sunday afternoon and return Thursday night.

Shared room?

I'm up for a shared room... Mary Edith? Julia? Both? Maybe we can get a mattress to put on the floor (I'm fine with sleeping on that... I sleep on a futon at home!) If so... do you want to stay right next to convention center or get a cheaper one further away and walk or shuttle? Comfort Inn is about 4 blocks away and ~$120/night. But, there appear to be even cheaper places further out (e.g. Quality Inn is around $70/night and has shuttle service).

Note, though, that I may come in Tuesday night and stay until Sunday as there is a multilingual Drupal 8 code sprint from Friday to Sunday. I'd like to stay longer but I've never been away from the kids for more than 3 days (DrupalCon SF) and don't want to freak them out too much ;) But, there is someone who may be able to room-share with me on Friday=>Sunday if you guys are gone by then.

So... let me know if you want to room-share and, if so, what days you are going and where you'd like to stay.

Ooh... I'm just looking at Darryl's package deal... that sounds pretty darn good, I'll go check it out.

Fun!
Kristen

I did book that package.

I did book that package. It's a room at the same Comfort Inn that you noticed, Kristen. That's actually closer than where I parked when I rode up to BadCamp.

I looked at some of the cheaper places too, but then I would have had to rent a car plus parking, or take the RTD bus.

For example, there's an Econo Lodge on E. Colfax that is $60/night if you're a Choice Hotel club member, and the RTD runs buses along Colfax and 14th past the Convention Center. The RTD website suggests that it's a 12 minute ride with a couple blocks of walking on each end.

Thanks!

Thanks for the details, Darryl. I think us three gals are going to split a room at one of the hotels within walking distance. I'm not sure it is any cheaper than your deal though. We are sorting that out offline.

See you in Feb!
