Is this possible with panels??

Hi All,

Just getting to grips with panels and it looks to be very powerful if I can get all the concepts into my head.. :)

Can someone tell me if this is possible and if so give me some direction (instructions or screencasts) on how to do it??

Lets say I have a simple two column panel page and in the left column I have a views content panel with a listing of whatever content.. By default the right panel is empty (or is simply not displaying anything).. When I click on the linked "title" of one of the entries in the list (left panel) the content of that entity would then show in the right panel.. Is this possible without having to code anything for a bit of a newbie?

Is it able to be done with ajax so there is no need for a page reload?

Thanks for any input..

Not that I know of

I don't know any module that allows doing this without any custom coding. (This doesn't mean that there is no such module, but if it is I think it is hard to find.)

Sorry for negative response.

Thanks for the reply Johan.. I thought it may be a long shot.. :)

I'll just have to look at some other layout/flow/process to link and navigate the content on its own pages..

I hope I understand what

I hope I understand what you're asking. Suppose you want to create a page with a list of hotels. Create a panelpage whith url /hotels. Place the view with hotelnames in the left column, leave the right column empty.
Then create a node template panel for content item hotel. In the left column you put the view with hotelnames, in the right column the hotel node content.
Now if you choose a hotel from the view the node will show and the view will stay where it was. It's not ajax but you will hardly remark the page is reloading.

Thanks Gerard.. That might

Thanks Gerard.. That might just get me the interface I was after in a slightly different way to my original thinking.. Only limitation would be that if I did still want to view the complete node content without the view I wouldn't be able to.. or I suppose I could create another variant of some description that would show just the node content.. I will have a play with it.. :)

Just a clarification

To be clear: What you're describing can be done if you accept new page loads when you click on the titles in the left column. But loading the right column with AJAX, though, is difficult.

Thanks.. Probably trying to
