Thanks for organizing this.

Weren't we meant to be talking about... [waves hands] stuff? And voting on it beforehand with a poll or something?

Indeed - thanks!

We did suggest polling people to see what topics were in most demand.
I'll dig out my notes and see if this g.d.o can do something for us.
Was it you that was offering a Drush Make talk?

Before Drush Make, there must come... Drush

Broadly, yeah. I was sort of expecting to follow hot on the heels of a drush talk, though, as otherwise there's a lot to explain before we start.

Happy to do something, though: should I bring my laptop?

Go on then! You don't get on

Go on then! You don't get on too well with my mac do you?

I don't get on well with any Macs, except...

... my work one, which runs Ubuntu!

I'll also try to put something together to explain Drush: we'll see how far I get.

Great! Thanks JP. Are you

Great! Thanks JP.
Are you thinking you'll start from the basics, installing Drush, installing Drupal with Drush?
Will you be getting on to Drush aliases? I'd be up for doing a quick demo of Drush aliases and how useful it is, if that ties in to what you were thinking.
Either way, plenty of Q&A subject matter to keep us happy fo a bit.

Broadly, yeah

Initially I wasn't going to do any drush at all, so I'm not going to get much prepared in time outside of Drush make!

Let's say we:

  1. Start with how to get Drush: I'll probably fudge installing it a bit, as I've already got Ubuntu package installations from the Aegir folks.
  2. Demonstrate some random basic Drush commands: I don't want that to become a free-for-all as it's just worth demonstrating a handful of them, then have an open session at the end.
  3. Plough on with a full Drush make demo: how to download it with drush, plus talking through these makefiles.
  4. Then you can do something on aliases as a kind of "advanced course".
  5. Finally we finish with a free-for-all of people showing their neatest Drush tricks

How does that sound?

poll for favourite topics

finn lewis's picture

What topic would you most like to see a talk about at a forthcoming OXDUG meetup?

-> http://groups.drupal.org/node/205033 (edited - previous poll corrupted...)

Vote away! We'll see what's popular and find someone to share their knowledge.

(Thanks for reminding me JP)

We had a great talk on Drush
